2014 NEAFL Season
The 2014 NEAFL season was the fourth season of the North East Australian Football League (NEAFL). The season began on Saturday, 29 March and concluded on Saturday, 13 September with the NEAFL Grand Final. were the premiers for the season after they defeated the Sydney Swans reserves by two points in the Grand Final due to a goal kicked moments before final siren. League structure For the first time since the NEAFL's inception in November 2010, a major restructure of the league occurred ahead of the 2014 season. The total number of clubs in the competition was reduced from 19 to 14, with Tuggeranong (ACT), Broadbeach (QLD), Labrador (QLD), Morningside (QLD) and Mt Gravatt (QLD) all having their licenses revoked. North Queensland
North Queensland or the Northern Region is the northern part of the Australian state of Queensland that lies just south of Far North Queensland. Fankhauser Reserve
Fankhauser Reserve is a multi-sports venue in Southport, a suburb in the Gold Coast, Australia. It has been used by the NEAFL's Southport Australian Football Club team as their home game base. The Gold Coast Suns reserves side also occasionally uses the ground for home matches. The ground also hosted a match for premiership points in the 2020 AFL Women's season. In 1987 the Southport Sharks' board of directors submitted a proposal to the local council to build a professional Australian rules football ground and licensed club on the 31 acres of land located on the corner of Musgrave and Olsen Avenues. The submission was approved and the Sharks were granted a 50-year lease on the site. Construction of the $2.7 million development began in 1988 and was completed in February 1989. Carrara Stadium (known commercially as Metricon Stadium) is a stadium on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, located in the suburb of Carrara. The stadium is primarily used for Australian rules football, serving as the home ground of the Gold Coast Suns, who compete in the Australian Football League. Manuka Oval
Manuka Oval is a sporting venue in Canberra, the capital of Australia. It is located in Griffith, in the area of that suburb known as Manuka. Manuka Oval has a seating capacity of 13,550 people and an overall capacity of 16,000 people, although this is lower for some sports depending on the configuration used. The area on which the ground is situated has been used for sport since the early 20th century, but was only enclosed in 1929. It has since undergone several redevelopments, most recently beginning in 2011.
