2014 Melbourne Vixens Season
The 2014 Melbourne Vixens season saw Melbourne Vixens compete in the 2014 ANZ Championship. With a team coached by Simone McKinnis, captained by Bianca Chatfield and also featuring Tegan Caldwell, Geva Mentor, Madison Robinson and Catherine Cox, Melbourne Vixens won both the minor premiership and the overall championship. Vixens defeated Queensland Firebirds in both the major semi-final and the grand final as they won their second premiership. They won their first in 2009. Simone McKinnis
Simone McKinnis is a former Australia netball international and the current head coach of Melbourne Vixens in Suncorp Super Netball. As a player she was a member of the Australia teams that won gold medals at the 1991 and 1995 World Netball Championships, the 1993 World Games and the 1998 Commonwealth Games. She also captained the Melbourne Phoenix team that won the 1997 Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She was head coach when Vixens won the 2014 ANZ Championship and the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball titles. In 1992, McKinnis was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia and in 2010 was inducted into the Australian Netball Hall of Fame. Early life and family McKinnis is one of five sisters. Australian Institute of Sport are a former Australian netball team based in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. They were the netball team of the Australian Institute of Sport. They effectively acted as a development/under-21 team for the Australia national netball team. Between 1985 and 1996, AIS played in the Esso/Mobil Superleague. In 1985 and 1986 they finished as champions. Between 2003 and 2007, the AIS and Netball ACT entered a combined team known as AIS Canberra Darters in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. Adelaide Thunderbirds are an Australian netball team based in Adelaide, South Australia. Since 2017 they have played in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship and between 1997 and 2007, they played in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. Thunderbirds have won four premierships. ANZ Championship
The ANZ Championship, also known as the Trans-Tasman Netball League, is a former netball league featuring teams from both Australia and New Zealand. Between 2008 and 2016, it was the top-level league in both countries. The competition was owned and administered by Trans-Tasman Netball League Ltd (TTNL), a joint venture between Netball Australia and Netball New Zealand. It was effectively a merger of Australia's Commonwealth Bank Trophy and New Zealand's National Bank Cup. Its main sponsor was the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group. In 2008, New South Wales Swifts were the inaugural ANZ Championship winners. Queensland Firebirds were the most successful team during the ANZ Championship era, playing in five grand finals and winning three premierships in 2011, 2015 and 2016. Amy Steel (born 7 April 1989) is an Australian retired netball player last played for the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the ANZ Championship. Kate Moloney
Kate Moloney is an Australian netballer who plays for the Melbourne Vixens in the Suncorp Super Netball league. As of April 2017, she is the captain of the Vixens. Moloney made her domestic league netball debut for the Vixens in 2013 and was appointed captain of the team four years later. She made her debut for the Australian national netball team in 2017, going on to be selected in the Australian Diamonds squad for the 2018/19 international season. Erin Hoare
Erin Hoare (born 17 July 1989) is an Australian netballer. At , Hoare is primarily a goal shooter, but can also play goal attack. Hoare is a member of the NSW Swifts and plays in the ANZ Championship. Netball career Beginning her career with the Melbourne Vixens in 2013, Hoare was primarily a bench player, earning two ANZ Championship caps during her time at the club. In 2014, Hoare with the Melbourne Vixens won the ANZ Championship premiership. At the end of the 2014 ANZ Championship season, it was announced that Hoare would be leaving the Melbourne Vixens to join the NSW Swifts for the 2015 ANZ Championship season. Karyn Bailey
Karyn Bailey (born 28 July 1986) is a former Australian netball player who played for the Melbourne Vixens, Adelaide Thunderbirds. and played for the Surrey Storm ( UK) from 2018 - 2021. After Storm's final game on Monday 21st June 2021, she retired from domestic netball after 16 years of playing top-flight netball. Early years Bailey was born in Melbourne and moved to Northern Territory as a three-year-old. She earned a scholarship to the Northern Territory Institute of Sport at 15 years of age. Netball Victoria is the governing body for netball in Victoria, Australia. It is affiliated to Netball Australia. Sharelle Jane McMahon (born 12 August 1977) is an Australian former netball player who List of Australia national netball team captains, captained the Australia national netball team.
