2013–14 CEV Women's Champions League
The CEV Champions League was the highest level of European club volleyball in the 2013–14 season and the 55th edition. It ran from 22 October 2013 until 16 March 2014. Dinamo Kazan from Russia won the tournament and qualified for the 2014 FIVB Club World Championship after defeating VakıfBank İstanbul 3–0 in the final. Teams The number of participants on the basis of ranking list for European Cup Competitions: League round 24 teams were drawn to 6 pools of 4 teams each. The Women's CEV Champions League, formerly known as CEV Champions Cup (from 1960 to 2000), is the top official competition for women's volleyball clubs of Europe and takes place every year. It is organized by the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV) and was created in 1960 as . On 13 November 2000, it was officially presented in Florence under a new format and renamed . Formula The competition has changed its format since the first fourteen teams took part at the inaugural edition in 1960–61. Baku Crystal Hall ( Azerbaijani: ''Bakı Kristal Zalı'') is an indoor arena in Baku, Azerbaijan. It is located on the coast of Baku near National Flag Square. Construction of the arena began in August 2011 and finished in April 2012in time for it to host its first major event, the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. VDK Gent Dames
VDK Gent Damesvolleybalteam is a volleyball team from Ghent, Belgium. VDK Gent-Heusden was founded in 1990, after a merger between VDK Wondelgem, Nova Smash Sint-Amandsberg and VBK Heusden. The new club had men's and women's teams. In 1993, White Star Sint-Amandsberg and VOM Gentbrugge joined, and the name of the club was shortened to VDK Gent. The volleyball department of the Dresdner Sportclub was founded in 1990. Igtisadchi Baku is an Azerbaijani women's volleyball club. History Igtisadchi Baku was founded in the Summer of 2008 and immediately got the right to participate in the Azerbaijan Women's Volleyball Super League, Azerbaijan Super League, qualifying after just one season to the CEV Women's Challenge Cup.
