2013 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament
The 2013 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament involved eight schools in single-elimination play that determined the national champion of women's NCAA Division I college ice hockey. Regional quarterfinals were contested on March 15 and 16, 2013. The Frozen Four was played on March 22 and 24, 2013 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, with the University of Minnesota as the host school. The University of Minnesota won the title with a 6–3 win over Boston University, becoming the first NCAA women's hockey team ever to complete a perfect season (41–0–0). Minnesota Golden Gophers Women's Ice Hockey
The Minnesota Golden Gophers women's ice hockey team plays for the University of Minnesota at the Twin Cities campus in Minneapolis. The team is one of the members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in Division I. The Golden Gophers have won six NCAA Championships as well as the final American Women's College Hockey Alliance Championship. In the WCHA, they have also been regular season champions 11 times and tournament champions 7 times. The annual NCAA women's ice hockey tournament—officially known as the National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Championship—is a college ice hockey tournament held in the United States by the National Collegiate Athletic Association to determine the top women's team in the NCAA. The 2020 championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament Most Outstanding Player is an annual award given out at the conclusion of the NCAA women's ice hockey tournament to the player to be judged the most outstanding. The award has been in effect since the adoption of a national championship tournament for the 2000–01 season. History Only one winner did not play for the National Champion, Kristy Zamora in 2002. Only two players have been named MOP more than once, Jessie Vetter in 2006 and 2009, and Noora Räty in 2012 and 2013. In 2011 the MOP was awarded to multiple players for the first time when it was awarded to Meghan Duggan and Hilary Knight. Megan Bozek
Megan Bozek (born March 27, 1991) is an American ice hockey player and member of the United States national team. She most recently played with the KRS Vanke Rays of the Zhenskaya Hockey League (ZhHL) during the 2020–21 season. Bozek played her collegiate career with the Minnesota Golden Gophers women's ice hockey program. She was selected second overall by the Toronto Furies in the 2014 CWHL Draft and, over her career, has played in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL), National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), and the Zhenskaya Hockey League (ZhHL). Milica McMillen (born July 13, 1993) is an American professional ice hockey player. McMillen was drafted by the Connecticut Whale of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) in 2015, and joined the New York Riveters franchise for the 2016–17 NWHL season. Hannah Brandt (born November 27, 1993) is an American ice hockey centre, currently playing for the Minnesota section of the PWHPA. She was named to the United States women's national ice hockey team, which represented the United States at the 2012 IIHF Women's World Championship. She won the 2012 Minnesota Ms. Hockey Award. She debuted for the U.S. national women's team at the 2014 4 Nations Cup in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. Amanda Kessel
Amanda Kessel (born August 28, 1991) is an American professional ice hockey player. She has been a member of the United States women's national ice hockey team and played four seasons for the Minnesota Golden Gophers women's ice hockey program (2010–11 through 2012–13, and 2015–16). She has played professionally in the National Women's Hockey League and Professional Women's Hockey Players Association. Marie-Philip Poulin-Nadeau (born March 28, 1991) is a Canadian ice hockey forward, currently with the PWHPA and who serves as captain of the Canadian national team. NCAA Division I women's ice hockey All-Tournament team is an honor bestowed at the conclusion of the NCAA women's ice hockey tournament to the players judged to have performed the best during the championship.
