2013 Lipa Local Elections
Local elections were held in Lipa, Batangas, on May 13, 2013, within the Philippine general election. The voters will elect for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, and ten councilors. Mayoral and vice mayoral election Incumbent Mayor Meynardo Sabili decided to run for reelection under the Liberal Party. He was elected as Mayor in 2010 defeating then incumbent Oscar L. Gozos despite his disqualification due to his residency. Sabili is from San Juan, Batangas, but it is stated in his certificate of candidacy that Sabili was a registered voter in Pinagtongulan. His running mate is councilor Eric Africa. Lipa (), officially the City of Lipa ( fil, Lungsod ng Lipa), is a 1st class Cities of the Philippines#Legal classification, component city in the Provinces of the Philippines, province of Batangas, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 372,931 people. 2013 Philippine General Election
A general election was held in the Philippines on May 13, 2013. It was a midterm election—the officials elected will be sworn in on June 30, 2013, midway through President Benigno Aquino III's term of office. Being elected are 12 senators (half of the Senate), and all 229 district members of the House of Representatives. These national elections were held on the same day as local and gubernatorial elections, as well as a general election in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. The Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas (League of Barangays in the Philippines) and the Asosasyon ng mga Kapitan ng Barangay (Association of Barangay Captains) or ABC are formal organizations of all the barangays in the Philippines.
