Long Jump
The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a takeoff point. Along with the triple jump, the two events that measure jumping for distance as a group are referred to as the "horizontal jumps". This event has a history in the ancient Olympic Games and has been a modern Olympic event for men since the first Olympics in 1896 and for women since 1948. Rules At the elite level, competitors run down a runway (usually coated with the same All-weather running track, rubberized surface as running tracks, crumb rubber or vulcanized rubber, known generally as an all-weather track) and jump as far as they can from a wooden or synthetic board, 20 centimetres or 8 inches wide, that is built flush with the runway, into a pit filled with soft damp sand. Carlee Beattie (born 9 September 1982) is an Australian Paralympic athletics competitor. A congenital arm amputee, she won the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Paralympics and a gold medal at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in the Women's Long Jump. She represented Australia at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, 2016 Rio Paralympics. Personal Beattie was born on 9 September 1982, and is from Warwick, Queensland, in the Brisbane area. Nikol Rodomakina (Russian: Николь Родомакина, born 14 February 1993) is a Paralympic athlete from Russia competing mainly in category T46 sprint and F46 long jump events. Between 2011 and 2013 Rodomakina was World, Paralympic and European champion in the F46 long jump. Career history Rodomakina competed in her first Summer Paralympics at the 2008 Games in Beijing, China. She entered both the women's 100 metres and 200 metres sprints in the T46 classification. She qualified for the finals for both events, but failed to medal in either finishing 5th in the 100m and 7th in the 200m. Marie-Amélie Le Fur
Marie-Amélie Le Fur (; born 26 September 1988) she is a French Paralympic athlete from Vendôme, Centre Region, competing in T44 sprint and F44 long jump events. Her left leg was amputated below the knee following a motor scooter accident in 2004. Before she lost her leg, she was a French junior running champion. As of 2023, Le Fur is the President of the French Paralympic and Sports Committee. Le Fur competed in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China. Iris Pruysen (born 26 November 1987) is a Dutch retired Paralympic athlete who competed in sprinting and long jump at international elite competitions. Vanessa Low
Vanessa Low (born 17 July 1990) is a German-born Australian Paralympian, Paralympic Track and field, athlete competing in T42 (classification), T42 Sprint (running), sprint and long jump events. Born in East Germany, she gained Australian nationality in June 2017. In 2016, Low was the only actively competing female track athlete with two above-knee amputations of her legs. Despite the location of these amputations and despite her having to compete with athletes having one fully functional leg, she successfully made it to the finals of all of her sprint and long jump competitions at both the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London and the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Rio. Martina Caironi (born 13 September 1989) is an Italian Paralympic athletics, Paralympic athlete. She competed at the 2012 Summer Paralympics and 2016 Summer Paralympics.
