2012–13 UAE President's Cup
The 2012–13 UAE President's Cup is the 37th season of the UAE President's Cup, the premier knockout tournament for association football clubs in the United Arab Emirates. The reigning champions are Al Jazira, having won their second title last season. The winners will qualify for the group stage of the 2014 AFC Champions League. After a change to the format last season garnered criticism for not including as many lower-league teams, the format has now returned to a previous format. 14 teams from UAE Division 1 Group A and Group B took place in a group stage with 2 groups of four and 2 groups of three, with the group winners advancing to a play-off stage. The two winners of the play-off matches will join the 14 Pro-League teams in the round of 16. Al Wasl Football Club ( ar, نادي الوصل لكرة القدم) is an Emirati professional football club based in Dubai, that competes in the United Arab Emirates Football League. It is a part of the multi-sports club Al Wasl SC. Argentina-legend Diego Maradona was the manager of the club in 2011 and 2012. The club has a supporters group, named as the ''Ultras Junoon''. History Early years Al Wasl was founded on 1960 as ''Zamalek Club'' when a group of young men gathered in Bakhit Salem's house in Zabeel to establish the club to practice their sporting hobbies. Members had to rent a small house, each paying 10 AED to support the club's budget. Al Dhafra Club
Al Dhafra FC () is a professional football club based in Madinat Zayed, United Arab Emirates. As of the 2020–21 season they play in the UAE Arabian Gulf League. Their futsal club participated in AFC Futsal Club Championship. History Al Dhafra FC was established in 2000, as part of a policy to promote sports across the country and the Al Dhafra region of Abu Dhabi had no team, so Al Dhafra is the first and only club to be located in the western region. For most of its history the club was classified as a semi-professional club according to the UAE Pro League committee and did not have licenses to compete in the AFC competitions but the team had continued to appeal for a license since qualifying for the UAE President's Cup for the first time in 2019.
