The New York State Assembly is the lower house of the New York State Legislature, with the New York State Senate being the upper house. There are 150 seats in the Assembly. Philip Ramos (born April 6, 1956) is an American politician who represents the 6th District of the New York Assembly. He is a Democrat. The district includes portions of the town of Islip, including Bay Shore, Brentwood, Central Islip and Islandia in Suffolk County on Long Island. Ramos is the son of a correction officer and a registered nurse. He graduated from Brentwood High School in 1974, and went to work as a therapy aide at the Pilgrim Psychiatric Center.
