Ernesto Lopez
Ernesto B. Lopez (born November 16, 1976) is an American politician and a former Republican member of the Delaware Senate, where he had represented the 6th District from 2012 to 2023. He was the first Latino elected to the Delaware Senate. Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, Lopez moved to Delaware as a child with his parents. After attending public schools, he earned his BA at Gettysburg College and his EdD in educational leadership from the University of Delaware. After graduating, he worked for the university as an administrator. Lopez ran for New Castle County Council President in 2004 but lost to Democrat Paul Clark. Catherine A. Labonte Cloutier (born July 25, 1950) is an American politician and a former Republican member of the Delaware Senate from January 9, 2001, to January 12, 2021, representing District 5. Gregory F. Lavelle is an American politician who was a Republican member of the Delaware General Assembly from 2001 to 2019, serving in both the Delaware Senate and the Delaware House of Representatives. In the 2018 midterm elections, he lost his seat in the general election to Democrat Laura Sturgeon. Michael S. Katz (born January 1962) is an American physician and politician from the state of Delaware. Katz represented the 4th district in the Delaware State Senate for one term, serving from 2009 to 2013. Originally a member of the Democratic Party, Katz later joined the Independent Party of Delaware. He was the Independent Party's nominee for U.S. Senate in the 2024 election.
