2012 D.C. United Season
The 2012 D.C. United season was the club's seventeenth season of existence, and their seventeenth consecutive season of playing in Major League Soccer, the top division of American soccer. The club's season began on March 10, with a 0–1 home defeat against Sporting Kansas City, and culminated on November 18 with a 1–1 draw against Houston Dynamo. Under Ben Olsen, his second full season in charge, the club went through a tremendous improvement in form, 2012 Major League Soccer season#Standings, qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since 2007, and reaching the Eastern Conference championship for the first time since 2006. 2012 Major League Soccer Season
The 2012 Major League Soccer season was the 17th season of Major League Soccer. It was also the 100th season of FIFA-sanctioned soccer in the United States, and the 34th with a national first-division league. The Montreal Impact became the 19th MLS club, replacing a team of the same name that previously played in the NASL. The regular season began on March 10 and concluded on October 28. The MLS Cup Playoffs began on October 31 and ended on December 1, when the LA Galaxy claimed their fourth league title by defeating the Houston Dynamo, 3–1, in MLS Cup. New York Red Bulls
The New York Red Bulls are an American professional association football, soccer club based in the New York metropolitan area. The Red Bulls compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference (MLS), Eastern Conference. Charlie Davies
Charles Desmond Davies (born June 25, 1986) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a forward. Davies set several soccer records at his high school, the Brooks School, before appearing for the Boston College Eagles and the Westchester Flames in college. Davies signed his first professional contract with Swedish Allsvenskan club Hammarby IF in December 2006 before joining Sochaux in July 2009. Davies was capped seventeen times for the United States national team between 2007 and 2009, and scored four international goals. On October 13, 2009, Davies was involved in a serious car crash on the George Washington Parkway that killed a fellow passenger and left Davies with severe injuries that kept him out of the 2010 World Cup, and effectively ended his international career. The New England Revolution are an American professional association football, soccer club based in the Greater Boston area. The club competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference (MLS), Eastern Conference. Clyde Simms
Clyde Simms (born August 21, 1982) is an American former professional soccer player. He played in Major League Soccer from 2005 to 2013. He also represented the United States at international level. Career College Born in Jamestown, North Carolina, Simms attended Southwest Guilford High School in High Point, North Carolina. Simms played college soccer at East Carolina University from 2000 to 2003, where he appeared in 72 games and notched seven goals and seven assists. He was team captain during his final three years. Professional Simms went undrafted by Major League Soccer after college and instead signed with Richmond Kickers of the A-League. Marc Burch
Marc Burch (born May 7, 1984, in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American former professional soccer player. Career College and amateur Burch played college soccer at the University of Evansville for three seasons from 2002 to 2004, scoring seven goals and assisting on 22 along the way, and spent the summer months playing for the Cleveland Internationals in the USL Premier Development League. After the 2004 season he transferred to the University of Maryland, where he would become a crucial member of the Terrapin squad that won the College Cup, even scoring the game-winning goal in the championship against New Mexico. Professional Burch was drafted in the second round, 24th overall, by Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft. On July 11, 2006, Burch was traded from Galaxy after appearing in only 3 games. 2011 MLS Re-Entry Draft
The two-stage 2011 MLS Re-Entry Draft took place on December 5, 2011 (Stage 1) and December 12, 2011 (Stage 2). All 19 Major League Soccer clubs participated. The Stage 1 and Stage 2 Drafts were conducted in the same order as the traditional Waiver Draft, with clubs choosing in reverse order of their 2011 Major League Soccer season finish. 2013 MLS SuperDraft
The 2013 MLS SuperDraft was the fourteenth SuperDraft presented by Major League Soccer. The draft took place on January 17, 2013 in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Indiana Convention Center. The Colorado Rapids enjoyed returns from the 2013 draft, with its two first-round draft picks Dillon Powers and Deshorn Brown finishing first and second respectively in 2013 rookie of the year voting. United States Men's National Under-23 Soccer Team
The United States U-23 men's national soccer team, also known as the United States men's Olympic soccer team, is a youth soccer team operated under the auspices of U.S. Soccer. Its primary role is qualification into and competition at the quadrennial Olympic Football Tournament, with the next one to be held during the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, which the team has already qualified for as hosts. Perry Kitchen
Perry Allen Kitchen (born February 29, 1992) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a defensive midfielder. He was part of the Akron Zips side that won the 2010 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship, and was a first round draft pick (3rd overall) for D.C. United in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft. He played 187 total games and scored 10 goals for D.C., and won the 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. In March 2016, he moved to Heart of Midlothian of the Scottish Premiership, who appointed him their captain. After six months with Randers of the Danish Superliga, he returned to MLS with the LA Galaxy in January 2018. Three years later, he joined the Columbus Crew of the same league.
