2011–12 Premier Soccer League
South Africa's 2011–12 Premier Soccer League season (known as the ABSA Premiership for sponsorship reasons) was the sixteenth since its establishment. Orlando Pirates were the defending champions, having won their third PSL title, and in the process ended SuperSport United's 3 year grip on the championship. The season kicked off on 12 August 2011 and ended on 19 May 2012. 16 teams contested the season, including two newly promoted teams – yo-yo club Jomo Cosmos – who were promoted for the second time in 3 seasons after winning the 2010–11 National First Division champions' playoff 5–4 on penalties against Bay United, and Black Leopards who came through a four-way promotion playoff, defeating Bay United 2–0 over a two-legged final. Premier Soccer League

Parow, Cape Town
Parow is a suburb of Cape Town in the Western Cape, South Africa and a Northern Suburb of the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality founded by Johann Heinrich Ferdinand Parow who arrived in the locality in 1865. History During a great storm in Table Bay in 1865, 19 ships were stranded. Amongst the many schooners was the ''Kehrwieder'', the ship of Captain Johann Heinrich Ferdinand Parow. After being stranded, Captain Parow settled down in the Cape of Good Hope and married Johanna Wilhelmina Timmerman, the daughter of the family that helped Captain Parow after being stranded on the Cape coast. Parow quickly realised the potential value of the Tyger Valley area north of Cape Town and that the area held great opportunities for cattle trade. Captain Parow soon moved inland to this area and started selling ground in the area which is today known as Parow, which built up a great deal of wealth for the Captain. Vasco Da Gama (South Africa)
Vasco da Gama was a South African football club based in the Parow suburb of the city of Cape Town that played in the National First Division. Coming from the lower ranks, the club had its roots entrenched in the local Portuguese South African community, and adopted its name, crest and team colours from the Brazilian club Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama. In 2016, the club was ended when the franchise was relocated to Stellenbosch as Stellenbosch F.C. Mpumalanga Black Aces
Black Aces were a South African football club that played in the Premier Soccer League. Aces usually played their home games in the Mpumalanga province but were based and trained in Johannesburg. History The original club was founded in 1937 by dairy workers. The club folded after finishing 14th in the National First Division inland stream in 2002. The club had also been known as Ukhumba Black Aces, Witbank Black Aces and Super Kurl Aces during its existence. The current club is the second incarnation and they entered the South African football league in 2007 when the Polokwane-based City Pillars league license was bought and the team was transferred to Witbank from Limpopo. The 2011–12 National First Division, is the season from September 2011 until May 2012, of South Africa's second tier of professional football. By the end of the season, the overall NFD champion will get promoted to the first level, known as Premier Soccer League (PSL). For the first time since the 2003–04 National First Division season, all teams have been placed in one unified league table. Previously the competition had been split into two 'streams'. 2010–11 National First Division
2010–11 National First Division, was the season from September 2010 until May 2011, of South Africa's second tier of professional association football, football. The overall NFD champion was promoted to the first level, known as Premier Soccer League (PSL). While the losing team of the championship final, faced a round robin playoff stage, against the second lowest ranked team of PSL and the two second ranked teams of the NFD streams. Season structure The league is made up of 16 teams, split into 2 streams. Each team plays the other 7 teams in their stream 3 times, for a total of 21 games. Teams receive 3 points for a win, 1 for draw, and 0 for a loss. Jomo Cosmos
Jomo Cosmos are a South African association football club based in Johannesburg that plays in the National First Division. The club is owned and coached by South African football legend Jomo Sono. In the 2021-2022 National First Division season the club was relegated to the Third Division stream of professional football in South Africa. History The club was founded on 29 January 1983, upon the remnants of the previously well-known and successful club Highlands Park, which Sono opted to buy when he ended his playing career in the United States. The season began in the second week of August 2012. Orlando Pirates were the defending champions, having won the previous 2011-12 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, but lost their title to Kaizer Chiefs. The season featured 14 teams from the 2011-12 PSL season and two new teams promoted from the 2011–12 National First Division: Tuks FC and Chippa United who replace relegated Santos and Jomo Cosmos. Format changes The 2012–13 season saw the introduction of the Q-innovation system. The league schedule was split into four fixture-blocks referred to as quarters, the first and third blocks had eight fixtures, the second and fourth blocks had seven fixtures.
