2011–12 Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders Men's Basketball Team
The 2011–12 Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders men's basketball team represented Middle Tennessee State University during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Blue Raiders, led by tenth year head coach Kermit Davis, played their home games at the Murphy Center and are members of the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 27–7, 14–2 in Sun Belt play to be Sun Belt East Division champions and overall regular season conference champions. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Basketball tournament to Arkansas State. As regular season conference champions, they received an automatic bid into the 2012 National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Marshall in the first round and Tennessee in the second round before falling in the quarterfinals to Minnesota. Kermit Davis
John Kermit Davis Jr. (born December 14, 1959) is an American college basketball coach for the Ole Miss Rebels. Davis was previously the head coach at Middle Tennessee. His head coaching experience also includes brief stops at Idaho (twice) and Texas A&M. Early life and family Davis's father, Kermit Sr., was the head coach at Mississippi State University for seven seasons, ending in 1977. He was an alumnus of the school and was promoted to head coach at age 34 after four years as an assistant for the Bulldogs. In his first season in 1971, he was named SEC Coach of the Year. The younger Davis graduated from Starkville High School in 1978 and then played at Phillips County Community College in Arkansas for two years, and transferred to hometown Mississippi State, where he played two seasons and earned a bachelor's degree in 1982 and a master's in 1984 while a graduate assistant. Marcos Knight
Marcos Shyderrick Knight (born September 24, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for BC UNICS of the VTB United League. College career After attending West Laurens High School in Dublin, Georgia, Knight spent one year each at junior colleges Middle Georgia (2009–10) and Chipola (2010–11). For his sophomore year, he transferred to Middle Tennessee State University. In his two years with the Blue Raiders (2011–13), Knight saw the court in a total of 68 games to average 12.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists as well as 1.2 steals per outing. He garnered All-Sun Belt 1st Team honors and NABC Division I All-District 24 1st Team distinction as a senior. Gersten Pavilion
The Gersten Pavilion is a 3,900-seat multi-purpose arena in Los Angeles, California. It is the home of the Loyola Marymount University Lions. It was built in 1981 and has been used for home games by the university's men's basketball, women's basketball, and volleyball teams since January 1982. It was also the part-time practice home for the Los Angeles Lakers. It was the site for the weightlifting competition for the 1984 Summer Olympics. On March 4, 1990, LMU star Hank Gathers died during a West Coast Conference men's basketball tournament game from cardiomyopathy. The tourney was promptly suspended and LMU was awarded the NCAA bid based on their regular season title. The facility also hosted the WCC tournament in 1997. Austin Peay Governors Men's Basketball
The Austin Peay Governors men's basketball team represents Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. The Governors play in the ASUN Conference starting in 2022–23, following 61 seasons in the Ohio Valley Conference. The team's most recent appearance in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament to date was in 2016, making the field of 68 by virtue of having won the 2016 Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball tournament.
