2011 Speedway Grand Prix Of Europe
The 2011 FIM Fogo European Speedway Grand Prix was the first race of the 2011 Speedway Grand Prix season. It took place on 30 April at the Alfred Smoczyk Stadium in Leszno, Poland. It was fourth SGP event held in Leszno. Grand Prix was won by Dane Nicki Pedersen who beat defending World Champion Pole Tomasz Gollob, Russian Emil Sayfutdinov and Vice-Champion Jarosław Hampel from Poland. Gollob, scoring 18 points, becoming Championship leader. Riders The Speedway Grand Prix Commission nominated Damian Baliński as Wild Card, and Patryk Dudek and Maciej Janowski both as Track Reserves. The Draw was made on 29 April by Tomasz Malepszy, President (=Mayor) of Leszno. Hampel, Kołodziej and Baliński are ridding for Unia Leszno in the 2011 Speedway Ekstraliga. Kenneth Bjerre
Kenneth Bjerre Jensen (born 24 May 1984 in Esbjerg, Denmark) is a Danish international motorcycle speedway rider. He earned 17 caps for the Denmark national speedway team. Career Bjerre began his Polish league career in 2001 for Ostrów. The following season he began his career in Britain when he joined the Newcastle Diamonds for the 2002 Premier League speedway season. Over the following decade he would become a heat leader for both Belle Vue Aces (2004 to 2006) and Peterborough Panthers (2007 to 2010). Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four clockwise, anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of soil, dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . Artem Grigoryevich Laguta (; born 13 November 1990) is a Russian motorcycle speedway rider and member of the Russian national team. He is the 2021 World Champion. Career details Laguta became the Russian champion in 2010 and 2011. In August 2010, during the Speedway Grand Prix Qualification he won the GP Challenge, which ensured that he claimed a permanent slot for the 2011 Grand Prix. He is also a three times world team champion with Russia after partnering Emil Sayfutdinov during three consecutive years, as Russia won the Speedway of Nations in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Antonio Lindbäck (born 5 May 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden, who competed in the Speedway World Championship and was a member of the Swedish team who won the Speedway World Cup in 2004 and 2015. He earned 17 caps for the Sweden national speedway team. Andreas Karl Rune Jonsson (born 3 September 1980 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish former international motorcycle speedway rider. He was a member of the Sweden speedway team that won the World Cup in 2003, 2004 and 2015. He earned 26 caps for the Sweden national speedway team. Jason Philip Crump (born 6 August 1975) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider from Australia (UK born). He is a three-time Speedway World Champion, and a World Cup winner. In a 21-year career in Speedway, Crump finished with seven World Championship titles to his name (four individual, including the U/21 title, and three teams), making him one of the most successful Australian motorcycle racers of all time. Christopher Calvin Harris (born 28 November 1982) from Truro, Cornwall, nicknamed ''Bomber'', is a Great Britain international motorcycle speedway rider from England. Career history Early career Harris began his racing career at the age of six and a half by competing in grasstrack events. His talent quickly became apparent when he began to win all of the junior age groups in the South-West area. Janusz Kołodziej (born 27 May 1984 in Tarnów, Poland) is a Polish speedway rider who has ridden for the Polish national team and is a four times champion of Poland.
