2011 Mercury Insurance Open
The 2011 Mercury Insurance Open was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It is the 2nd edition of the Southern California Open since the tournament left the tour in 2007. It is classified as one of the WTA Premier tournaments of the 2011 WTA Tour. It takes place in Carlsbad, California, United States. Petra Kvitova and Kim Clijsters withdrew due to injuries. WTA Premier Tournaments
WTA Premier tournaments was a category of tennis tournaments in the Women's Tennis Association, WTA Tour, implemented from the reorganization of the schedule in 2009 until 2020. In 2020, Premier events included: * Four "Premier Mandatory" events in Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, and Beijing with prize money of $4.5 million. * Five "Premier 5" events in Doha, Rome, Cincinnati, Toronto/Montreal, and Wuhan with prize money of $2 million. * Twelve "Premier" events with prize money of $600,000 to $1,000,000. The ranking points awarded to the winners of these tournaments are: * "Premier Mandatory" 1000 * "Premier 5" 900 and * "Premier" 470. Dominika Cibulková
Dominika Cibulková (; born 6 May 1989) is a Slovak former professional tennis player. She is the 2016 WTA Finals champion, becoming the fourth player (after Serena Williams in 2001 WTA Tour Championships, 2001, Maria Sharapova in 2004 WTA Tour Championships, 2004 and Petra Kvitová in 2011 WTA Tour Championships, 2011) to win the tournament on her debut. She won eight WTA Tour singles titles and two on the ITF Women's Circuit, ITF Circuit. Alexa Glatch (born September 10, 1989) is an American former tennis player. Junior career She started playing tennis at the age of five. As a junior player, she won the prestigious Easter Bowl title in the Girls-14s and Girls-18s divisions and the Orange Bowl in the Girls-16s division in 2004. She achieved a world junior ranking of No. 5 in 2005, advancing to the 2005 US Open finals in both singles and doubles.
