2011 Chicago Sky Season
The 2011 Chicago Sky season was the franchise's 6th season in the Women's National Basketball Association, and their first season under head coach Pokey Chatman. Sky center Sylvia Fowles finished the season as only the second player in WNBA history to average at least 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. Chatman was named the head coach and general manager, after Steven Key resigned following the 2010 season. Pokey Chatman
Dana "Pokey" Chatman (born June 18, 1969) is currently an assistant coach for the Seattle Storm in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Chatman is the former head coach of the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky of the WNBA. She is also the former head coach of the LSU Lady Tigers basketball team and the WBC Spartak Moscow Region, Spartak Moscow women's basketball team. Chatman spent the first 20 years of her adult life at LSU as a player (1987–1991), student assistant (1991–1992), assistant coach (1992–2004) and head coach (2004–2007). Mistie McCray Bass (born December 2, 1983) is an American former professional women's basketball player. High school Bass graduated from George S. Parker High School in Janesville, Wisconsin, in 2002, having helped the school win the state championship two years in a row. As a freshman, she broke a defender's arm while the defender attempted to take a charge. She is the only player in the state to be named Player of the Year three times. She also was elected first team USA Today All-America, second team Parade All-America, second team School Sports All-America, third team Student Sports All-America, two time Wisconsin Gatorade Play of the year and first team All-State. Shameka Delynn Christon (born February 15, 1982) is an American retired professional women's basketball player who most recently played with the Phoenix Mercury in the Women's National Basketball Association, WNBA. She attended college at the University of Arkansas, and was named the Player Of The Year in the Southeastern Conference during her 2004 senior year. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in social work. She was selected by the Liberty as the fifth overall pick in the 2004 WNBA draft. 2012 WNBA Draft
The 2012 WNBA draft was the league's annual process for determining which teams receive the rights to negotiate with players entering the league. The draft was held on April 16, 2012, at the ESPN studios in Bristol, Connecticut. The first round was shown on ESPN2 ( HD), with the second and third rounds shown on NBA TV and ESPNU. The San Antonio Stars were a professional basketball team based in San Antonio, playing in the Western Conference in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA).
