The 2010–11 Mestis season was the 11th season of the Mestis, the second level of ice hockey in Finland. 12 teams participated in the league, and Sport won the championship. Mestis
Mestis (from , meaning 'Championship series', stylized as MEST1S) is the second-highest men's ice hockey league in Finland. The league was established by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association in 2000 to replace the I-divisioona ('First Division'). Being promoted to SM-liiga is possible if a Mestis team beats a SM-liiga club in the qualification series and matches all the criteria set by the SM-liiga. Mestis, however, is an open league where relegation and promotion are possible with the 3rd league, Suomi-sarja. Mestis is also the highest league governed by the FIHA. History In the years 2000–2008, it was not practically possible for Mestis teams to get promoted to the SM-liiga, which was closed in 2000, but it was possible to drop down to the Suomi-sarja instead. Heinolan Kiekko
Heinolan Peliitat (''formerly Heinolan Kiekko'') is an ice hockey club based in Heinola, Finland. The club is made up of 11 teams with the top team playing in the 2. Divisioona, the 4th tier of ice hockey in Finland. They play their home games in the Versowood Areena, which has a capacity of 2,975 (with 1,500 seated). The club is affiliated with the Liiga side Lahti Pelicans. History The original Peliitat was founded in 1969 and played in 1983–1987 and 1988–1989 in the I-Divisioona. The club's activities ended with relegation from the I-Divisioona and bankruptcy in 1989. After the bankruptcy of Peliitat, Heinola Kiekko, founded in 1984, became the leading ice hockey club in Heinola. HeKi played for a long time in the 2. Divisioona and got promoted in 1999 into the Suomi-sarja. Success finally came in the 2004–05 season, when HeKi finished second in the series. HC Keski-Uusimaa known as HCK is a Finnish ice hockey team based in Kerava, Finland. The team was founded in 2008 and began play in the Suomi-sarja, the third level of hockey in Finland, before being promoted to the Mestis for the 2012–13 season. Rovaniemen Kiekko
Rovaniemen Kiekko, abbreviated RoKi, is an ice hockey team in the Finnish Mestis. They play in Rovaniemi, Finland at Lappi Areena, which has a 3,500 spactator capacity. RoKi was established in 1979 and is operated by RoKi Hockey Oy. The team is affiliated with the developmental club Rovaniemen Kiekko ry, which has active sections in minor and junior ice hockey and also operates the RoKi women's team, which plays in the top-tier Naisten Liiga. TUTO Hockey (Turun Toverit) is a Finland, Finnish ice hockey team based at the Kupittaan jäähalli (capacity 2,875, inauguration in November 2006). Established in 1929 in sports, 1929, TUTO plays in Turku, Finland, and is one of two clubs in that city (the other being TPS (ice hockey), TPS of Liiga). The Full name of the club is ''TUTO Hockey''. Kajaanin Hokki
Kajaanin Hokki was a Finland, Finnish ice hockey team based at Kajaani. The team was founded in 1968 and folded in 2025 due to bankruptcy. The last season of Hokki was the 2024–25 Mestis season, 2024-25 Mestis season where they positioned last. The club Hokki was promoted from Suomi-sarja to Mestis in the end of season 2001–02 after beating Diskos of Jyväskylä in qualifications. Hokki's home venue is located in Vimpelinlaakso and has the capacity of 1,591. Cooperation Among key factors to the team's success have been the co-operation contract with Kärpät and the army unit of Kainuu Brigade. Co-operation with Kärpät consisted mostly of player exchange between SM-liiga and Mestis, which enhanced player development as younger players from Kärpät could gain experience playing amongst men in Hokki.
