Swedish Popular Music
Swedish popular music, or shortened as Swedish pop music, refers to music that has swept the Swedish mainstream at any given point in recent times. After World War II, Swedish pop music was heavily influenced by American jazz, and then by rock-and-roll from the U.S. and the U.K. in the 1950s and 1960s, before developing into dansband music. Since the 1970s, Swedish pop music has come to international prominence with bands singing in English, ranking high on the British, New Zealand, American, and Australian charts and making Sweden one of the world's top exporter of popular music by gross domestic product. Kent (band)
Kent was a Swedish alternative rock band formed in Eskilstuna in 1990. With members Joakim Berg, Martin Sköld, Sami Sirviö and Markus Mustonen, the band had numerous radio hits throughout Sweden and Scandinavia and consecutive number-one studio albums on the Sweden top list (Sverigetopplistan) beginning with the release of ''Verkligen'' (1996) and led by the single "Kräm (så nära får ingen gå)". With origins rooted in distorted Rock music, rock, they found mainstream success through their alternative rock albums of the mid-1990s, 2000s and 2010s, the latter decades during which they adopted elements of Synth-pop, synthpop. Donkeyboy
Donkeyboy (occasionally stylised as donkeyboy) is a synthpop band from Drammen, Norway, formed in 2005. The band consists of Cato Sundberg (vocals, rhythm guitar), Kent Sundberg (synth, vocals), Peter Michelsen (guitar, backing vocals) and Thomas Drabløs (drums) History Donkeyboy were signed to Warner Music after an employee came across their music on MySpace. Their debut single, " Ambitions" was released on 26 March 2009 and was put into heavy rotation by NRK P3. The song's chorus is built around a bassline similar to those used on Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" and some of Madonna's 1980s songs. The song features guest vocals by Linnea Dale. "Ambitions" is a song by Norway, Norwegian band Donkeyboy, taken from their debut album ''Caught in a Life''. It was released as their debut single in 2009 and was a number-one hit in the VG-lista, Norwegian Singles Chart. The chorus of the song is built around a bassline similar to those of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" and some of Madonna (entertainer), Madonna's 1980s songs, and features guest vocals by Linnea Dale. "Bad Romance" is a song by American singer-songwriter Lady Gaga from her third extended play (EP), ''The Fame Monster'' (2009)—the reissue of her debut studio album, ''The Fame'' (2008). Eric Saade
Eric Khaled Saade (; , ; born 29 October 1990) is a Swedish singer-songwriter. He spent two years with the boy band What's Up!, leaving the band in February 2009 to pursue a solo career. Anna Bergendahl
Anna Henrietta Bergendahl (born 11 December 1991) is a Swedish singer and songwriter. She took part in Swedish TV4 (Sweden), TV4 music program ''Super Troupers'' in 2004, and in ''Idol 2008'' where she reached the Final 5 before being eliminated. In 2009, Bergendahl signed for Lionheart Records. Her debut album was released on 14 April 2010. Basshunter
Jonas Erik Altberg (; born 22 December 1984), known professionally as Basshunter, is a Swedish singer, record producer, songwriter and DJ. As indicated by his stage name, Basshunter is known for bass-heavy Eurodance music. Born and raised in Halmstad he moved to Malmö in 2006. As a young teen, Basshunter sang in a choir his mother ran. He started producing music at the age of 17, and later he started performing in local venues in his early career.
