2010 World Cup Of Curling
The 2010 Grey Power World Cup of Curling took place at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario from November 3–7, as part of the 2010 World Curling Tour. It was the first Grand Slam event for the 2010–11 curling season. The 2010 World Cup featured 18 teams competing in 3 groups in a round-robin tournament format, with the top 8 teams advancing to the quarterfinals. The purse for this event was CAD$100,000. The winner of the tournament was the Mike McEwen rink which received CAD$22,500. It was McEwen's first slam title. He defeated Jeff Stoughton 4-2 in an all-Winnipeg final. Sebastian Kraupp
Sebastian Kraupp (born 20 May 1985) is a Swedish curler from Karlstad, Sweden. He currently coaches the Swedish men's junior team. From 2005 to 2008 Sebastian Kraupp skipped his own team. Starting with the 2008–2009 season he joined Niklas Edin's team throwing Third stones. Team Edin first achieved widespread attention at the 2009 Aberdeen European Championships where they stunned the curling competition by finishing second after the round robin tournament with a 7 – 2 record. Their only loses were to Team Murdoch of Scotland and Team Ulsrud of Norway who had won the Gold and Bronze medals respectively at the 2009 Moncton World Championships. In the 1 vs. 2 Playoff Game Kraupp's team took on Team Ulsrud of Norway who they upset 7 to 3 advancing directly to the Gold Medal match. Ben Hebert
Benjamin "Ben" Hebert (born March 16, 1983) is a Canadian curler, a Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic gold medallist, 2008 World Champion and four time Brier Champion from Chestermere, Alberta. In 2019, Hebert was named the greatest Canadian male lead in history in a TSN poll of broadcasters, reporters and top curlers. Career Hebert, originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, began curling during his school years. In 1998, he lead his high school team to compete in the finals for the city of Regina, ultimately losing to the group from Campbell Collegiate. He played lead for Pat Simmons from 2003 to 2006, where he played in two Briers for Saskatchewan (2005 & 2006). The team finished 6-5 and 5-6 respectively. Marc Kennedy
Marc Kennedy (born February 5, 1982) is a Canadian curler, and Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic gold medallist from St. Albert, Alberta. In 2019, Kennedy was named the greatest Canadian male second in history in a TSN poll of broadcasters, reporters and top curlers. Career Kennedy was born in St. Albert, Alberta, the son of Don and Connie. He started curling at age six. He is a Canadian Winter Games champion and three-time provincial junior champion. He won his first provincial men's championship with Kevin Martin in 2007. John Morris (curler)
John C. Morris (born December 16, 1978; nicknamed "Johnny Mo") is a Canadian curler, and two-time Olympic gold medallist from Canmore, Alberta. Morris played third for the Kevin Martin team until April 24, 2013. Morris, author of the book ''Fit to Curl'', is the son of Maureen and Earle Morris, inventor of the "Stabilizer" curling broom. Morris grew up in Gloucester, Ontario (now part of Ottawa) and at the age of five began curling at the Navy Curling Club. Kevin Martin (born July 31, 1966), nicknamed "The Old Bear" and "K-Mart", is a Canadian retired curler from Edmonton, Alberta, an Olympic, World and four-time Canadian champion and a member of the World Curling Hall of Fame. Ryan Harnden
Ryan Harnden (born June 28, 1986) is a Canadian curler. He is the former lead for the Brad Jacobs rink. The team represented Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics, winning a gold medal. Career Early career Ryan joined forces with his father Eric Harnden for the 2007–08 season, as his second. The team, which also included brother E. J. and Caleb Flaxey at lead won the Dominion Northern Ontario Men's Curling Championship that season, and would represent Northern Ontario at the 2008 Tim Hortons Brier. The team would have an unsuccessful Brier, finishing with a 3–8 record. Following the season, Harnden joined forces with Brad Jacobs, and has played with Jacobs ever since. Bradley Robert Jacobs (born June 11, 1985) is a Canadian curler from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He is an Olympic champion skip, having led Canada to a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Jacobs is also the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier championship skip and the 2013 World Championship runner-up. He is an eight-time (as of 2017) Northern Ontario provincial champion, and one time provincial junior champion. Jacobs and his team are well known for their physical fitness.
