2010 Women's European Volleyball League
The 2010 Women's European Volleyball League was the second edition of the annual women's volleyball tournament, played by eight European countries from June 5 to July 18, 2010. The final Four were held in Ankara, Turkey, on July 24 and 25. Strashimira Filipova
Strashimira Filipova (Bulgarian Cyrillic: Страшимира Филипова; born August 18, 1985) is a Bulgarian volleyball player. She represented the Bulgaria national team at the 2005 Women’s European Volleyball Championship, which marked her debut for the national side. Career Her youth years were spent with VC CSKA Sofia and she played for their senior team (2001–2003, 2004–2005). She has also donned the colours of the Slavia Sofia volleyball team (2003–2004). Filipova is also a former member of the RC Cannes team. Filipova initially focused on the high jump, but switched to volleyball when she was in grade 9. In 2009, she was part of the squad that finished in third place at the 2009 Women's European Volleyball League. Jelena Nikolić-Nenadiċ ( sr-cyrl, Јелена Николић; born 13 April 1982) is a retired Serbian professional volleyball player, playing as a wing-spiker. She was a member of the Women's National Team that won silver medal at the 2016 Olympics and gold medal at the 2011 European Championship in Serbia. Career She played for VakıfBank Güneş Sigorta Türk Telekom in Turkey from 2008/2010. With this team Jelena win the 2010–11 CEV Champions League and also winning the "Best Scorer" award. Eda Erdem Dündar (, born Eda Erdem; 22 June 1987) is a Turkish professional volleyball player of Bosniak descent. She currently plays for both Fenerbahçe SK and the national team and is the captain of both teams. Eda Erdem has been playing for Fenerbahçe since 2008. Career She began her career in the Beşiktaş youth academy in 2000. It didn't take long for her talent to shine through, and in 2004, she earned a spot on the senior team. After four seasons with Beşiktaş, where she served as captain in her final two seasons, Erdem made a pivotal move in 2008 when she joined the prestigious Fenerbahçe. The Women's European Volleyball League is a continental volleyball competition for senior women's national volleyball teams of Europe, organized by the European Volleyball Confederation ( CEV). Neslihan Demir (born 9 December 1983) is a retired Turkish volleyball star. She is one of the most successful athletes of Turkey and has been among FIVB Heroes. She represented her country as the flag bearer at the 2012 Summer Olympics and the official advertisement face of Turkey for the 2020 Summer Olympics candidateship along with basketballer Hedo Türkoğlu. Başkent Volleyball Hall, () is an indoor volleyball venue within the TVF Sports Complex located at Beşevler neighborhood of Yenimahalle district in Ankara, Turkey. Opened in 2010, the venue has a seating capacity of 7,600 spectators. Construction The sports complex was commissioned by the Turkish Volleyball Federation and its construction began on 8 April 2009 with groundbreaking.
