The 11th edition of the Tanzania Music Awards took place at the Diamond Jubilee Hall in Dar es Salaam, on Friday 14 May 2010. Jokate Mwegelo is a Tanzanian politician and Secretary General of the Chama cha Mapinduzi’s Youth Wing (UVCCM).Before being appointed, she was an entrepreneur and a media personality. In July 2018, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli appointed Hon. Jokate Mwegelo as the new District Commissioner for Kisarawe district in Pwani region. She was then appointed as the District Commissioner for Temeke District in Dar es Salaam Region in July 2021. Hon. Bongo Flava
Bongo Flava (or Bongoflava) is a nickname for Tanzanian music. The genre developed in the 1990s, mainly as a derivative of American hip hop and traditional Tanzanian styles such as taarab and dansi, with additional influences from reggae, R&B, and afrobeats, to form a unique style of music.Mueller, Gavin. Nasibu Abdul Juma Issack (born 2 October 1989), popularly known by his stage name Diamond Platnumz, is a Tanzanian bongo flava recording artist, dancer, philanthropist and a businessman of Ha heritage. He is the founder and CEO of WCB Wasafi Record Label, Wasafi Bet and Wasafi Media. Diamond has gained a massive following in East and Central Africa. He became the first Africa-based artist to reach a combined total of one billion views on YouTube. After signing a record deal with Universal Music in 2017, Platnumz released his third studio album, '' A Boy from Tandale'' (2018). In 2021, Diamond together with his record label WCB Wasafi entered into a 360 Partnership with Warner Music Group. Judith Wambura Mbibo (born 15 June 1979), known by her stage name Lady Jaydee also referred to as ''"Lady JayDee in town"'' or ''"Lady Jay Dee"'', is a Tanzanian singer. Mwasiti Almas Yusuph (born February 2, 1986) popularly known as Mwasiti, is a singer and songwriter of Afropop, Zouk and Bongo Flava music from Tanzania. She is best known for her single "Nalivua Pendo," which was number one on the Tanzania radio charts for eight consecutive weeks and won "Best Zouk Song" at the 2009 Tanzania Music Awards. Dully Sykes (born Abdul Sykes on 4 December 1980) is a Tanzanian musician who sings majorly in the bongo flava genre. Biography Also known as Mr Misifa or Mr Chicks, Dully Sykes is a bongo flava artist from Tanzania, the grand son of Abdulwahid Sykes. He has performed in the UK and he is one of the pioneers of Swahili dancehall in the African Great Lakes region, and is widely known for hits like "Julieta", "Salome", "Historia ya Kweli" and "Leah".
