2010 Taguig Local Elections
Local elections were held in Taguig on May 10, 2010, within the Philippine general election. The voters will elect for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, two District representatives, and councilors, eight in each of the city's two legislative districts. Mayoral and vice mayoral election Incumbents Sigfrido Tiñga and George A. Elias are now on their third term as mayor and second term as vice mayor, respectively. Ineligible for reelection, Tinga ran for Congressman at Taguig’s Second District instead. Former Associate Justice Dante Tinga is running for Mayor as the nominee of both the Liberal Party and its Taguig affiliate, the local party Kilusang Diwa ng Taguig. Dante Tiñga
Dante Osorio Tiñga (born May 11, 1939) is a Filipino politician and jurist. He served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines from 2003 to 2009. Profile In 1960, Tiñga obtained his law degree at the University of the East College of Law, where he also served as dean of the college from 1989 to 1993 and again from 2017 to 2018. Tiñga earned his Master of Laws degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1970. From 1987 to 1998, Tiñga served as a three-term congressman representing the Taguig-Pateros district. From 2001 until his appointment to the Supreme Court, he was the first Dean of the College of Law of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Muntinlupa, officially the City of Muntinlupa ( fil, Lungsod ng Muntinlupa), is a 1st class Cities of the Philippines#Legal classification, highly urbanized city in the Metro Manila, National Capital Region of the Philippines. Bangon Pilipinas Party (BPP, ) or Bangon is a political party in the Philippines, formed in 2004 as the Bangon Pilipinas Movement. It is the political vehicle of its leader, televangelist Eddie Villanueva. Villanueva ran for president on 2004 and 2010, but lost on both elections. The party put up a senatorial slate for the 2010 elections but none of its candidates won. Villanueva's son, Eduardo "Jon-Jon" Villanueva, Jr. was the highest ranking elected official of the party, serving as mayor of Bocaue, Bulacan; he ran as the Liberal Party's candidate for mayor in the 2013 elections and won. People's Reform Party
The People's Reform Party (abbrev. PRP) is a political party in the Philippines. Founded on April 12, 1991, as the political party of former Agrarian Reform Secretary Miriam Defensor Santiago for her bid as president in the 1992 Presidential Elections. During the 1992 Elections, the party nominated Santiago as president and Ramon Magsaysay, Jr. as vice president, however both Santiago and Magsaysay lost the elections to former Defense Secretary Fidel Ramos and then-Senator Joseph Estrada, respectively.
