The United Counties of Prescott and Russell () is a county located in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Ontario. Its county seat is L'Orignal, Ontario, L'Orignal. 2010 Ontario Municipal Elections
Municipal elections were held in Ontario, Canada, on October 25, 2010. Voters in Ontario elected mayors, councillors, school board trustees and all other elected officials in all of the List of municipalities in Ontario, province's municipalities. A total of 444 elections were held. Several smaller municipalities in Northern Ontario held no council elections, as their entire councils were acclaimed into office, although the towns still saw contested elections for their school board seats. Alfred And Plantagenet
Alfred and Plantagenet is a Franco-Ontarian township in eastern Ontario, Canada, in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. Located approximately from downtown Ottawa at the confluence of the Ottawa River and the South Nation River. The township was formed on January 1, 1997, through the amalgamation of the townships of Alfred and North Plantagenet and the villages of Alfred and Plantagenet. Plantagenet is named after the House of Plantagenet, the royal house established by King Henry II. The township was settled in 1811-12, and its post office opened in 1838. Casselman, Ontario
Casselman is a village in eastern Ontario, Canada, in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. Situated on the South Nation River about southeast of downtown Ottawa, along the Trans-Canada Highway 417. Casselman is an enclave within the Municipality of The Nation, since Casselman citizens refused to join the fusion of municipalities in 1998. The village was named after Martin Casselman who built a sawmill near the site of the current town in 1844. Clarence-Rockland is a city in Eastern Ontario, Canada, in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell on the Ottawa River. Clarence-Rockland, located immediately to the east of Ottawa, was formed on January 1, 1998, through the amalgamation of the Town of Rockland with Clarence Township. Hawkesbury is a town along the Ottawa River in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell in Eastern Ontario, Canada. Hawkesbury is the third most bilingual town in Ontario, with about 70% of its inhabitants being fluent in English and French. Franco-Ontarians make up 89% of the population. Smaller communities listed in the official Ontario place names database are Felton, Forget, Marionville, North Russell and Pana. Jean-Serge Brisson (born June 28, 1954) is a Canadian political activist, tax reform advocate, politician, and author. He is a former leader of the Libertarian Party of Canada and gained national notoriety in the 1990s for his opposition to businesses being forced to collect the provincial sales tax (PST) without being remunerated. Early life Brisson was born in Embrun, Ontario, a small village to the east of Ottawa and raised on a dairy farm.
