2010 New York Red Bulls Season
The 2010 New York Red Bulls season was their fifteenth in Major League Soccer, and in their existence. Following a dismal 2009 season, the Red Bulls saw the arrival of Swedish head coach Hans Backe. Backe replaced interim coach Richie Williams, who became an assistant. In part of an entire overhaul to the club, the Red Bulls made several notable signings throughout the season including retired French international Thierry Henry; Mexico's national team captain, Rafael Márquez; as well as players including Tim Ream and Joel Lindpere. The Red Bulls went on a worst-to-first campaign, topping the Eastern Conference by one point over Columbus before losing 3–2 on aggregate against San Jose in the quarterfinals of the 2010 MLS Cup Playoffs. Rafael Márquez
Rafael Márquez Álvarez (; born 13 February 1979) is a Mexican football coach and former player who played as a defender. He is currently the assistant coach of the Mexico national team. Nicknamed '' El Káiser'', he is regarded as the best defender in Mexico's history and one of the best Mexican players of all time. Márquez began his career with Atlas in 1996, playing in over 70 games with the club before moving to France in 1999 with Monaco, where he won a Ligue 1 title. The New York Red Bulls are an American professional association football, soccer club based in the New York metropolitan area. Joel Lindpere (born 5 October 1981) is an Estonian football coach and former professional player. Lindpere played as a midfielder for Nõmme Kalju, Lelle, Flora, Valga, CSKA Sofia, Tromsø, New York Red Bulls, Chicago Fire, and Baník Ostrava. Austin Da Luz
Austin da Luz (born October 9, 1987) is an American former professional soccer player. Career Youth and college Da Luz attended St. Stephen's Episcopal School Soccer Academy in Austin, Texas, where he was exposed to high levels of intensive training and competition on a regular basis and was able to travel and participate in international tournament play. Da Luz played college soccer at Wake Forest University from 2006 to 2009 where he appeared in 80 games scoring 13 goals and adding 39 assists. Tony Ghislain Tchani (; born 13 April 1989) is a Cameroonian retired footballer who played as a midfielder. Youth and college soccer Tchani moved to the United States from his native Cameroon in 2004, settling in Norfolk, Virginia. 2010 MLS SuperDraft
The 2010 MLS SuperDraft was the eleventh annual MLS SuperDraft, SuperDraft presented by Major League Soccer. It was held on January 14, 2010 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during the 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America, NSCAA Convention. The 2010 SuperDraft consisted of four rounds with sixteen selections each, for a total of 64 players selected during the draft. The draft preceded the 2010 MLS season. Philadelphia served as host to the 2010 draft the same year the Philadelphia Union begin play in MLS. Roy Miller Hernández (born November 24, 1984) is a Costa Rican former professional Association football, footballer who played as a Defender (association football), defender. Jorge Alberto Rojas Méndez (born January 10, 1977, in Mérida) is a Venezuelan former footballer. Nick Zimmerman (born May 3, 1987) is an American former soccer player. Career Coaching Zimmerman began coaching in 2015 for Columbus State University's women's soccer program, a Division II school in Columbus, GA, as the assistant coach under Jay Entlich. College and amateur Zimmerman played college soccer for James Madison University from 2005 to 2008. In his four years with James Madison, he appeared in 75 matches scoring 13 goals.
