2010 FIA GT1 Navarra Round
The 2010 FIA GT1 Navarra round was an auto racing event held at the Circuito de Navarra, Los Arcos, Spain on 23–24 October 2010, and served as the eighth round of the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship season. The eighth round of the championship had originally been scheduled to be held in Durban, South Africa, but difficulties in completing the circuit in time forced the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) to relocate the event to Navarra. The event shared the weekend with the Superleague Formula series. Brazilian Ricardo Zonta and German Frank Kechele of the Reiter Lamborghini team swept the weekend, earning pole position and victories in both the Qualifying and Championship Races. Circuito De Navarra
Circuito de Navarra is a motorsport race track that opened in June 2010 near Los Arcos in the Navarre region of Northern Spain. It is a permanent road course that hosted the Superleague Formula series and the FIA GT1 World Championship. History The circuit was inaugurated June 19, 2010 with the showing of the MotoGP Inmotec. Its first national test was held on 31 July. Matech Concepts was an auto racing development firm based in Geneva, Switzerland and founded by Martin Bartek in 2006. The company had made an agreement with Ford Racing to develop the Ford GT sports car for competition, and constructs the FIA GT1 and GT3 versions of the GT at a workshop in Mayen, Germany. Matech was also the official European distributor of parts for the Ford Mustang FR500 racing cars developed by Multimatic Motorsports. Neel Jani (born 8 December 1983) is a Swiss professional Porsche factory driver. His father is from India and his mother is German Swiss. He achieved his greatest success winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016 after first joining Porsche's LMP1 programme for the 2014 season driving in the WEC. Nicolas Verdonck (born 5 December 1985) is a Belgian racing driver. He was born in Brussels. Career Formula Renault Verdonck competed in Formula Renault 1600 in 2003, his first year in single seaters. His race engineer was Tim Wright. Formula 3000 Verdonck rose to prominence when he competed in the 2004 International Formula 3000 season with the Astromega team. Although the step up in power and downforce from FRenault to F3000 is a big one, Verdonck was given a degree of stability by the fact that he kept Wright as his race engineer. Alessandro Pier Guidi (born December 18, 1983) is a racing driver from Italy. He drove two races for the Italian A1 Team. A Ferrari factory driver since 2017, he won LMGTE-PRO 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship and 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans, and 2021 24 Hours of Spa. Andrea Bertolini (born 1 December 1973, in Sassuolo) is an Italian professional racing driver currently driving for AF Corse in the FIA World Endurance Championship. He is the official test driver of the Maserati factory. Bertolini began racing at a young age, working as the youngest ever test driver for Ferrari at 19, followed by work in the experimental and development department. Michael Bartels (born 8 March 1968) is a German professional racing driver. He is a multiple FIA GT champion and former Grand Prix driver who attempted to qualify for four races in with Lotus. Career Bartels was the 1985 German karting champion and the 1986 German Formula Ford 1600 champion. He competed in the German Formula Three Championship in 1988 and 1989, before stepping up to International Formula 3000 in 1990. Bartels filled in at Lotus for Johnny Herbert, who had commitments in Japanese Formula 3000, at four Grands Prix during the Formula One season, but failed to qualify at all four races.
