During the 2009–10 Belgian football season, Standard Liège competed in the Belgian Pro League. Season summary Having won the title the past two seasons running, Liège were looking to make it a hat-trick of title, but very quickly fell off the title race. Manager László Bölöni resigned in February with the club 19 points adrift of leaders Anderlecht. Royal Standard de Liège, commonly referred to as Standard Liège (; nl, Standard Luik ; german: Standard Lüttich ) or simply Standard in Belgium, is a Belgian professional football club based in the city of Liège. They are one of the most successful clubs in Belgium, having won the Belgian league on ten occasions, most recently in 2007–08 and 2008–09. Kristof Van Hout (born 9 February 1987) is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Lommel. With a height of 2.08 m, he is considered one of the tallest footballers in history. Dieudonné "Dieumerci" Mbokani Bezua (born 22 November 1985) is a Congolese professional footballer who plays as a striker for Beveren. He is captain of the DR Congo national football team. Steven Defour
Steven Arnold Defour (born 15 April 1988) is a Belgian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder, currently manager of Mechelen. In his senior career he played for Genk, Standard Liège, Porto, Anderlecht, Burnley, Antwerp and Mechelen, winning a total of nine honours with the second and third clubs.
