The 2009–10 season was Nottingham Forest's second season in the Football League Championship, following promotion from League One in the 2007–08 season, and after spending three years in the third tier. Richard Tait, Hamza Bencherif, Liam Hook, Tom Sharpe, Ryan Whitehurst, Emile Sinclair and Paddy Gamble were all released with Sinclair the only player to make first team appearances. Ian Breckin was also told he would play no part next season. Another three fringe players were given new contracts, Mickael Darnet, Shane Redmond and Arron Mitchell. Paul Anderson (footballer)
Paul Anderson (born 23 July 1988) is a retired English footballer who played as a winger. He is a former England U19 international. He is currently Derby County Under 15's Head Coach. He started his career at Hull City before moving to Liverpool but made no league appearances for either club. Loan spells with Swansea City and Nottingham Forest resulted in a permanent move to the latter for whom he made nearly 100 league appearances. In 2012, he moved to Bristol City before signing for Ipswich Town the following year. In 2015, he moved to Bradford City. In the 2016 Summer transfer window he moved to Northampton Town on a free transfer after leaving Bradford City. In 2017 he joined Mansfield Town but left in 2019 and joined Plymouth Argyle. Emile Anthony Sinclair (born 29 December 1987) is an English semi-professional footballer who plays as a striker. Hamza Bencherif (; born 9 February 1988) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender or midfielder for Northern Premier League club Worksop Town where he is club captain. Stephen Devine (born 11 December 1964) is a Northern Irish former footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s as a full-back. He first played for Tyrone County in Northern Ireland. His professional career started his career at Wolves but never played a first team match, although he did play for Northern Ireland at youth level. In March 1983 he joined Derby County, appearing in 9 league matches as the Rams were relegated to the then Third Division. Courtney Huw Fairclough, commonly known as Chris Fairclough, (born 12 April 1964) is an English football coach and former professional footballer. As a player, he was a defender from 1981 to 2001. He most notably played for Nottingham Forest and Leeds United. He also played for Tottenham Hotspur, Bolton Wanderers, Notts County and York City. He was capped 7 times by the England U21 side.
