CEV Women's Champions League
The Women's CEV Champions League, formerly known as CEV Champions Cup (from 1960 to 2000), is the top official competition for women's volleyball clubs of Europe and takes place every year. It is organized by the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV) and was created in 1960 as . On 13 November 2000, it was officially presented in Florence under a new format and renamed . Formula The competition has changed its format since the first fourteen teams took part at the inaugural edition in 1960–61. Through the era, as the number of participating teams has changed over time, the competition moved from an only knockout tournament to include a round-robin format between the final four competitors to determine the champion. Since the competition became the , all participants are divided into groups, and a double round-robin takes place within each group. BKS Stal Bielsko-Biała
BKS Stal Bielsko-Biała is a Polish sports club, with two departments: the men's football team and the women's volleyball team. The club is based in Bielsko-Biała. The football team currently plays in the second group of V liga Silesia, the sixth level of competition. History BKS Stal Bielsko-Biala (full name: ''Biala Sports Club Stal Bielsko-Biala'') was founded in 1922 in Biała Krakowska, the town which in 1951 merged with Bielsko, to form Bielsko-Biala. The formation of BKS was connected with the rebirth of the Second Polish Republic: both Biala (located in former Austrian Galicia), and neighbouring Bielsko (which had belonged to the Duchy of Teschen) were the towns with large German communities. Enrica Merlo (born 28 December 1988 in Este) is an Italian female volleyball player, playing as a libero. She has played for the Italy women's national volleyball team, notably being part of the 2009 Women's European Volleyball Championship winning team. On club level she plays for Savino Del Bene Scandicci. Career She has won various titles, including the Italian Serie A1, Italian Cup, Italian Super Cup and twice the CEV Women's Champions League. Christiane Fürst
Christiane Fürst (born 29 March 1985) is a German retired volleyball player. Career She won a bronze medal at the 2003 Women's European Volleyball Championship. Fürst was named Best Blocker at the 2006 and 2010 World Championships. She won the 2007–08 CEV Cup with the Italian team Scavolini Pesaro, and was named "Best Spiker". She won the bronze medal at the 2010–11 CEV Champions League with Fenerbahçe Acıbadem. As part of the Vakıfbank Spor Kulübü, she won CEV Women's Champions League in 2012–2013 season. At the 2013 European Championship, she took the silver medal with her National Team. Fürst won the gold medal at the 2013 Club World Championship and the Best Middle Blocker award, playing with Vakıfbank Istanbul. Serena Ortolani (born 7 January 1987 in Ravenna) is an Italian volleyball player. Career She has played as an opposite hitter for Foppapedretti Bergamo from 2008 to 2011. Her debut for the national team came on the 2005 edition of the European Championships, held in Croatia, when the team was then coached by Marco Bonitta. In the 2005/06 season, she won her first Coppa Italia and Scudetto with Foppapedretti Bergamo.
