2009 World Junior Ringette Championships
The 2009 World Junior Ringette Championships, (''2009 WJRC'') also known as the ''U19 2009 World Championships'', was an international ringette tournament and the first World Junior Ringette Championships organized by the International Ringette Federation (IRF) exclusively for elite junior national ringette teams. It was contested in Prague, Czech Republic, between August 4–8, 2009, at the Letňany Arena. History The World Junior Ringette Championships, known as the ''U19 World Championships'', was a tournament organized by the International Ringette Federation (IRF) from 2009 to 2012 for elite international Junior ringette athletes. The competition was run as a separate tournament from the World Ringette Championships which was designed for adult players. The World Junior Ringette Championships no longer function as a separate event, having since merged in 2013 with the main World Ringette Championships program where both Senior and Junior divisions now exist. Letňany Arena
Letňany is an area of Prague, Czech Republic. It was founded in 1307, and became part of Prague in 1968. It has been part of the ''Prague 9'' administrative district since 2001, having previously been in the local government district of ''Prague 18'', and it has its own cadastral area (also called "Prague 18"). It has become one of the richest districts in Prague. There is a large shopping mall, "Obchodní centrum Letňany", which has a shopping area in excess of 125,000 m2. Letňany was the site of the aircraft industry (Avia and Letov), but as the industry gradually declined Letňany became a mostly residential district. Julie Blanchette
Julie Blanchette (born January 9, 1977, in Montreal, Quebec) is an elite level Canadian ringette player who has also worked as a trainer and coach and served as the captain of several ringette teams including Team Canada. Blanchette played for the Montreal Mission of the National Ringette League and has also been a member of the Canadian national ringette team as both player and coach. Blanchette will be an assistant coach for the 2022 Team Canada Seniors who will compete in the 2022 World Ringette Championships. Sporting career Blanchette started playing ringette when she was 4 years old. Her brother played ice hockey and her parents looked for a team game for her, eventually signing her up with the local ringette club in Montreal. Susanna Tapani
Susanna "Suski" Tapani (born 2 March 1993) is a Finnish multi-sport elite athlete who competes in ice hockey, ringette, and in-line hockey. She is a member of the Finnish national ice hockey team and Finnish national ringette team. Tapani is the subject of a Finnish documentary, ('Icebreaker'), which follows her life as she competes in elite ringette, ice hockey, and in-line hockey from 2015 to 2019. A team is a group of individuals (human or non-human) working together to achieve their goal. The 2013 World Ringette Championships (''2013 WRC'') was an international ringette tournament and the 10th (X) World Ringette Championships. The tournament was organized by the International Ringette Federation (IRF)and was contested in North Bay, Ontario, Canada, between December 31, 2013, and January 4, 2014. The main competition took place at the North Bay Memorial Gardens. WRC 2013 was the first time the World Junior Ringette Championships, known as the U19 World Ringette Championship, was added to the program after it had initially begun as a separate tournament.
