2009 Superleague Formula Season
The 2009 Superleague Formula season was the second Superleague Formula championship. The series was rebranded the "Superleague Formula by Sonangol Group, Sonangol" for this season and also 2010 Superleague Formula season, 2010 with the Angolan oil company becoming the title sponsor. It began on June 28 at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, Magny-Cours and finished on November 8 at Circuito Permanente del Jarama, Jarama. The field remained at 18 clubs for the 2009 season but Beijing Guoan (Superleague Formula team), Beijing Guoan did not return to try to retain the title which they won with Davide Rigon in 2008 Superleague Formula season, 2008, however Rigon did return in the car of Olympiacos CFP (Superleague Formula team), Olympiacos CFP despite 2009 GP2 Series season, GP2 commitments. Superleague Formula
Superleague Formula was an Open wheel car, open wheel single seater Formula racing, motor racing formula, which started in 2008, at Donington Park in the United Kingdom. The league introduced team sponsorship by association football clubs. It used the slogan 'The Beautiful Race: Football at 300 km/h'. By 2011 the link with football was fading with more than half the teams no longer associated with football teams. It was founded by businessmen Alex Andreu and Robin Webb. On 19 May 2010, Andreu stepped down in his role as series president, with Alfredo Brisac named as his successor not many weeks later. The season ran between April and November at the same time as most other European race series. Every team used identical cars and 750-horsepower V-12 engines. The Sonangol Group was the series' title sponsor from June 2009 until the end of the 2010 season. Carlo van Dam (born 27 February 1986 in Vlaardingen) is a Dutch racing driver. PSV Eindhoven Superleague Formula team was the racing team of PSV Eindhoven, a football team that competes in the Netherlands in the Eredivisie. The PSV Eindhoven racing team competed in the Superleague Formula. Giorgio Pantano
Giorgio Pantano (born 4 February 1979) is an Italian former professional racing driver who drove for the Jordan Grand Prix, Jordan Formula One team for much of the 2004 Formula One season, 2004 season before being replaced by Timo Glock. Azerti Motorsport (also known as Racing for Belgium) is a Belgian motorsport team founded by former racer Wim Coekelbergs. Zakspeed () is a motor racing team from Germany, founded in 1968 by Erich Zakowski and then run by his son Peter Zakowski. It is based in Niederzissen, Rhineland-Palatinate, around from the Nürburgring circuit. The team was, together with the Rial Racing, one of the two last German Formula One teams based in Germany (with the Zakspeed's base in Niederzissen). 1973 to 1981: Saloon and sports car racing Zakowski founded Zakspeed in 1973 with the ambition of competing in sports car racing.
