2008–09 BCHL Season
The 2008–09 BCHL season was the 47th season of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). The 16 teams of the Coastal and Interior divisions each played 60 season games. The Vernon Vipers finished the regular season in 1st place overall. The Vernon Vipers defeated the Powell River Kings in 6 games to win the league championship Fred Page Cup. The Vernon Vipers then went on to sweep the AJHL championship Grande Prairie Storm in the Doyle Cup, before going on to win their record-breaking 5th national championship at the 2009 Royal Bank Cup. British Columbia Hockey League
The British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) is an independent Canadian Junior ice hockey league with 21 teams in British Columbia and Alberta. It was classified as a Junior "A" league within the Hockey Canada framework, until it became independent in 2023. Since becoming independent, the league characterizes itself simply as a Junior ice hockey league. History 1961 to 1993 In 1961, the heads of four Junior "B" hockey teams in the Okanagan region of British Columbia got together and formed the first Junior "A" league in British Columbia's history. The Okanagan-Mainline Junior "A" Hockey League (OMJHL) originally consisted of the Kamloops Jr. Rockets, the Kelowna Buckaroos, the Penticton Jr. Vees, and the Vernon Jr. Canadians. Quesnel Millionaires
The Quesnel Millionaires were a junior ice hockey, junior "A" ice hockey team based in Quesnel, British Columbia, Canada. They were members of the Interior Conference of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). They played their home games at Quesnel Twin Arena. The ownership group accepted an offer from the Chiefs Development group to move them to Chilliwack to play in Prospera Centre as of 2011 which was vacated after the Chilliwack Bruins were sold and moved to Victoria, BC. They are now known as the Chilliwack Chiefs (2011–), Chilliwack Chiefs. History The Millionaires started out in the Rocky Mountain Junior Hockey League, Peace Cariboo Junior Hockey League in 1975. The Millionaires are the 1977, 1978, 1979, and 1987 RMJHL, PCJHL Champions. They have also won the 1977, 1978, and 1979 Cyclone Taylor Cup Championships. Mark E. Ferner (born September 5, 1965) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Ferner was born in Regina, Saskatchewan.
