British Airways Flight 38
British Airways Flight 38 was a scheduled international passenger flight operating the flight from Beijing Capital International Airport in Beijing, China, to Heathrow Airport in London, United Kingdom, an trip. On 17 January 2008, the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft, which crash-landed short of the runway at Heathrow, touched down hard on the grass undershoot, breaking off the landing gear and skidding across the turf infield before sliding to the right of the threshold, 330 metres from its initial impact point. Of the 152 people on board, no fatalities resulted, but 47 people were injured, 1 of them seriously. Mirosławiec Air Accident
Mirosławiec () is a town in Wałcz County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northwestern Poland, with 2,671 inhabitants (2010). The 12th Air Base of the Polish Air Force is located north of the town. History Mirosławiec is a former private town, once located in the Poznań Voivodeship in the Greater Poland Province of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland. It was annexed by Prussia in the First Partition of Poland in 1772. During World War II, the Germans operated a forced labour subcamp of the Stalag II-B prisoner-of-war camp for Allied POWs in the town. On 10 February 1945 it was captured by Polish troops. Mirosławiec was the site of the 2008 Polish Air Force C-295 crash. EADS CASA C-295
The Airbus C295 (previously CASA C-295) is a medium tactical transport aircraft that was designed and initially manufactured by the Spanish aerospace company CASA, which is now part of the European multinational Airbus Defence and Space division. Work on what would become the C-295 was started during the 1990s as a derivative of the successful CASA/IPTN CN-235 transport aircraft. On 28 November 1997, the prototype performed its maiden flight; quantity production commenced shortly thereafter. In April 1999, the Spanish Air Force became its launch customer with an order for nine military-configured C-295s; two years later, the type was declared operational with the service. Further orders for the C-295 would promptly follow. Following the incorporation of CASA into the pan-European aeronautical group EADS in 2000, it was redesignated as the EADS CASA C-295. Polish Air Force
The Polish Air Force () is the aerial warfare Military branch, branch of the Polish Armed Forces. Until July 2004 it was officially known as ''Wojska Lotnicze i Obrony Powietrznej'' (). In 2014 it consisted of roughly 26,000 military personnel and about 475 aircraft, distributed among ten bases throughout Poland. The Polish Air Force can trace its origins to the second half of 1917 and was officially established in the months following the end of World War I in 1918. During the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany in 1939, 70% of its aircraft were destroyed. Bailundo
Bailundo (pre-1975 Vila Teixeira da Silva) is a municipality, with a population of 294,494 (2014), and a town, with a population of 70,481 (2014), in the province of Huambo, Angola. In the 1990s, Bailundo was the location of the headquarters of UNITA leader Jonas Savimbi. On January 19, 2008, a Gira Globo Aeronáutica Beechcraft B200 Super King Air on approach to Huambo Airport in Huambo crashed on a mountain near Bailundo, killing all 13 people on board. Located in Bailundo is the non-sovereign Kingdom of Bailundo. In 2021, Tchongolola Tchongonga was elected king of the Kingdom, to succeed Ekuikui IV who was deposed earlier in the same year. Kvass is a fermented, cereal-based, low-alcoholic beverage of cloudy appearance and sweet-sour taste. Kvass originates from northeastern Europe, where grain production was considered insufficient for beer to become a daily drink. The first written mention of kvass is found in ''Primary Chronicle'', describing the celebration of Vladimir the Great's baptism in 988. In the traditional method, kvass is made from a mash obtained from rye bread or rye flour and malt soaked in hot water, fermented for about 12 hours with the help of sugar and bread yeast or baker's yeast at room temperature. In industrial methods, kvass is produced from wort concentrate combined with various grain mixtures. A write-off is a reduction of the recognized value of something. In accounting, this is a recognition of the reduced or zero value of an asset.
