The 2008 WNBA season was the tenth season for the Minnesota Lynx. The Lynx were not able to return to the postseason for the first time since 2004. Don Zierden
Donald Casper Zierden Jr. is an American basketball coach. From 2007 to 2009, Zierden served as the head coach of the Minnesota Lynx in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Early life and education Zierden, a Minneapolis native, graduated from DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis and later from Mount Senario College in Ladysmith, Wisconsin in 1981. Coaching career He returned to DeLaSalle High in 1984 to become head varsity basketball coach and led DeLaSalle to the Minnesota Class A title in his first season. In two seasons at DeLaSalle, Zierden had a 61–14 record as head coach. In 1986, Zierden moved to the collegiate ranks to be an assistant coach at the University of Tulsa under J. D. Barnett. After two seasons at Tulsa, Zierden left coaching to work at a steel company. Detroit Shock
The Detroit Shock were a Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) team based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. They were the 2003, 2006, and 2008 WNBA champions. Debuting in 1998, the Shock were one of the league's first expansion franchises. They were also the first WNBA expansion franchise to win a WNBA Championship. The team was the sister team of the Detroit Pistons and from 2002 to 2009 was coached by Pistons legend Bill Laimbeer. In October 2009, it was announced that the Shock were relocating to Tulsa, Oklahoma to play in the new downtown arena, the BOK Center. Navonda Moore
Navonda Moore (born November 4, 1984) is an American professional women's basketball player in the WNBA, previously playing for the Minnesota Lynx. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Moore attended college at the University of Alabama and graduated in 2007. Following her collegiate career with Alabama Crimson Tide women's basketball, she joined the Lynx as a free agent. As an undrafted rookie, Moore struggled to get into the Lynx rotation. Noelle Quinn (born January 3, 1985) is an American basketball coach and former player who is currently the head coach for the Seattle Storm of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Quinn played in the WNBA for Minnesota Lynx, Los Angeles Sparks, Washington Mystics, Phoenix Mercury, and the Storm. She won the WNBA Championship with the Storm in 2018. Lindsey Harding
Lindsey Marcie Harding (born June 12, 1984) is an American professional basketball coach and former player. She is an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Throughout her playing career, Harding played for the Minnesota Lynx, Washington Mystics, Atlanta Dream, Los Angeles Sparks, New York Liberty and Phoenix Mercury of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and has played overseas in Turkey and Russia. Seimone Delicia Augustus (born April 30, 1984) is an American basketball coach and former professional player. She is currently an assistant coach for the LSU Tigers women's basketball, Louisiana State University women's basketball team. She was drafted first overall by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2006 WNBA draft and played for the Lynx for most of her Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) career except for her final season in with the Los Angeles Sparks. An eight-time WNBA All-Star Game, All-Star and the 2011 WNBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award, finals MVP, Augustus led the Lynx to four WNBA championships. Nicole Katherine Ohlde (born March 13, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player who played for the Minnesota Lynx, Phoenix Mercury and Tulsa Shock of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Amber Jacobs (born June 29, 1982) is a former professional basketball player in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), for the Los Angeles Sparks. She then became the assistant athletic director for Clarks Summit University and their head women's basketball coach. Prior to that, Jacobs was an assistant coach at the University of Rhode Island women's basketball team under her former head coach at Boston College Cathy Inglese.
