2008 International Women's Open
The 2008 International Women's Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor grass courts. It was the 34th edition of the International Women's Open, and was part of the Tier II Series of the 2008 WTA Tour. It took place in Eastbourne, United Kingdom, from 16 June through 21 June 2008. History The singles draw featured WTA No. 4 and French Open semifinalist Svetlana Kuznetsova, Paris semifinalist Marion Bartoli, and Prague titlist Vera Zvonareva. Vera Igorevna Zvonareva ( rus, Вера Игоревна Звонарёва, p=ˈvʲɛrə ˈiɡərʲɪvnə zvənɐˈrʲɵvə, a=Vera zvonareva.ogg; born 7 September 1984) is a Russian professional tennis player. She was introduced to tennis at the age of six and turned professional in 2000. Her career-high ranking by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) is world No. 2. Rennae Stubbs (born 26 March 1971) is an Australian tennis coach, television commentator, and former professional player. She is the host of The Power Hour on Amazon Prime Video Sports Talk. She worked at the Seven Network between 2011 and 2018 as an analyst and is now a full time commentator for ESPN tennis and the host of her own podcast, The Rennae Stubbs Tennis podcast. Květoslava Peschke (née Hrdličková; born 9 July 1975) is a Czech retired professional tennis player who was ranked world No. 1 in doubles. She reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 26 in November 2005, winning one WTA singles title in Makarska in 1998, but achieved most of her success in doubles. Peschke claimed her first Grand Slam title at the 2011 Wimbledon Championships, partnering Katarina Srebotnik. The WTA rankings are the Women's Tennis Association's (WTA) merit-based system for determining the rankings in women's tennis. Cornet has won six singles and three doubles titles on the WTA Tour, as well as three singles and three doubles titles on the ITF Circuit.
