The governor of Chhattisgarh is the nominal head of state of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. The governor is appointed by the president of India. The official residence of the governor is Raj Bhavan, Raipur, Raj Bhavan. The position of the governor of Chhattisgarh came into existence following the creation of the state in November 2000 as a result of the Madhya Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2000, bifurcation of Madhya Pradesh. Narinder Nath Vohra (born 5May1936), popularly referred as N. N. Vohra, is a retired 1959batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Punjab cadre who was the 12thgovernor of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. He was the first civilian governor of Jammu and Kashmir in eighteenyears after Jagmohan. Lieutenant General Srinivas Kumar Sinha, PVSM, ADC (7 January 1926 – 17 November 2016) was an Indian Army General who served as the Vice Chief of Army Staff. The governor of Jammu and Kashmir was the head of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. When India became independent, Hari Singh was the Maharaja of the Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir. Technically he remained so until 17 November 1952, although from 20 June 1949 his son Karan Singh acted as regent.
