Dhivehi League was a Maldives, Maldivian football (soccer), football league organized by the Football Association of Maldives. 8 clubs competed in the league, which was the top level of the Football in Maldives, Maldivian football league system. Format Dhivehi League consisted of 3 round-robin tournament, round robin rounds, each club once at home and once as visitor. In the 3rd round only the top 6 played, while the lower 2 got relegated. The FAM normalisation committee has decided to rebrand the competition as the Dhivehi Premier League. Victory Sports Club is a Maldivian sports club based in Malé, founded 3 July 1971. Victory is one of the most successful football clubs in Maldives, winning a record 21 national championships. Club Valencia is a Republic of the Maldives, Maldivian professional football (soccer), football club based in Malé. Nicknamed ''The Sunrisers'', the club most recently competed in the Dhivehi Premier League, the top tier of Football in Maldives, Maldivian football. History The notion of establishing a football club named Club Valencia arose in the late 1970s from the players of blue and gold teams participating in the Junior Football Pool organized by National Sports Academy. The first two names proposed to the government for approval as the name of the club were Youth Recreation Movement and Juvenile Valencia Atletico; both were rejected. The third name, Club Valencia was then approved by the government. The chairman of the club is Mr. Adheel Jaleel who was elected to the post in 2015.
