The 2007–08 season was Rochdale A.F.C.'s 101st in existence and their 34th consecutive in the fourth tier of the English football league ( League Two). Rochdale finished the season in 5th place in League Two, but missed out on promotion to League One after losing in the play-off final against Stockport County. Rochdale ( ) is a town in Greater Manchester, England, and the administrative centre of the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale. In the United Kingdom 2021 Census, 2021 Census, the town had a population of 111,261, compared to 223,773 for the wider borough. Rochdale is in the foothills of the South Pennines and lies in the Dale (landform), dale (valley) of the River Roch, north-west of Oldham and north-east of Manchester. James Matthew Spencer (born 11 April 1985) is an English footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. Playing career Stockport County Born in Stockport, Greater Manchester, Spencer started his senior career with his local side Stockport County, where he came through the club's Centre of Excellence youth system, making his debut in a 2–1 victory over Watford in 2002, aged just 16. Chris Basham
Christopher Paul Basham (born 20 July 1988) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder or centre back. He spent the majority of his professional career at Sheffield United where he became best known as a pioneer of the role of the overlapping centre back (usually on the right flank), a position he developed under Chris Wilder during the 2016–17 season. Having started as a junior with Newcastle United, he played for Bolton Wanderers, as well as having loan spells at Stafford Rangers and Rochdale, prior to joining Blackpool in August 2010. David Philip Perkins (born 21 June 1982) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder who is first-team player coach and U23s coach at Exeter City. Joseph Thompson (5 March 1989 – 17 April 2025) was an English professional footballer who played as a midfielder for Rochdale, Tranmere Rovers, Carlisle United, Southport and Bury. Nathan D'Laryea
Nathan Amarkine D'Laryea (born 3 September 1985) is an English former footballer who played as a defender. He was a product of the Manchester City academy and played for clubs including Rochdale, Macclesfield Town and Hyde FC. Career Early career D'Laryea started out as a trainee at Manchester City. Adam Rundle
Adam Rundle (born 8 July 1984) is an English footballer who made nearly 300 appearances in the Football League. Career Darlington A left-sided midfielder who began his career in Newcastle United's youth team, Rundle was released by the club in 2001 without being offered a professional contract. He subsequently joined Newcastle's neighbours Darlington in December 2001. Chris Dagnall
Christopher Dagnall (born 15 April 1986) is an English footballer who plays for side Lancaster City. He began his career at Tranmere Rovers, where he debuted age 17 in 2003. In January 2006 he was loaned to Rochdale, where he moved permanently in the summer. He scored 60 goals across all competitions for the Dale, leaving for Scunthorpe United in 2010 after helping them achieve promotion to League One. Gary Roy Jones (born 3 June 1977) is an English football coach and former player and former manager of Ashville. He resigned from Ashville in May of 2024. He played as a central midfielder. Ben Muirhead
Benjamin Robinson Muirhead (born 5 January 1983) is an English former professional footballer and coach. As a player, he was a winger. He notably played in the Premier League for Manchester United, going on to make a loan move to Doncaster Rovers before signing with Bradford City.
