2007–08 Kansas Jayhawks Men's Basketball Team
The 2007–08 Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team represented the University of Kansas for the NCAA Division I men's intercollegiate basketball season of 2007–08, which was the Jayhawks' 110th Season. The team was led by Bill Self in his 5th season as head coach. The team played its home games in Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas. The Jayhawks finished the season 37–3, 13–3 in Big 12 play to finish tied for first place. They defeated Nebraska, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M to win the Big 12 tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 1 seed in the Midwest region. Bill Self
Billy Eugene Self Jr. (born December 27, 1962) is an American basketball coach who is the head coach of the Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball, Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team. Self has held various coaching roles at the collegiate level and has been the coach of the Jayhawks since 2003. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. They effectively "run" the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Tyrel Reed
Tyrel Reed (born April 8, 1989) is an American former basketball player who played for University of Kansas. He is the winningest player in KU Jayhawks history, with a combined record of 132–17 record in his four seasons at the University of Kansas. Reed wrote a book, ''Reed All About It: Driven to be a Jayhawk'', about his experience growing up in Kansas and playing with the Jayhawks. It was co-written by Tully Corcoran and published by Ascend Books. Cole David Aldrich (born October 31, 1988) is an American former professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves. The 2008 Phillips 66 Big 12 men's basketball tournament was the 2008 edition of the Big 12 Conference's championship tournament held at the Sprint Center in Kansas City from March 13 until March 16, 2008. The 2007–08 Texas A&M Aggies men's basketball team represented Texas A&M University in the 2007–08 college basketball season. The team was led by first-year head coach Mark Turgeon, who replaced Billy Gillispie in April 2007.
