2007–08 Hull City A.F.C. Season
During the 2007–08 English football season, Hull City A.F.C. competed in the Football League Championship. Season summary Hull finished a mere four points adrift of second-placed Stoke City for promotion to the Premier League, qualifying for the play-offs instead. After trouncing Watford 6–1 over two legs, Hull City reached Wembley to play a Bristol City side aiming for a second successive promotion. A single Dean Windass goal gave Hull the game and promotion to English football's top flight for the first time in Hull's history. Promotion was made all the more incredible considering that five seasons ago Hull were languishing in the bottom tier of the Football League, and that when manager Phil Brown had taken the managerial role at Hull in December 2006 the club were in the Championship relegation zone. The English Football League Championship, known simply as the Championship and for sponsorship purposes as Sky Betting & Gaming, Sky Bet Championship, is a professional association football league in England and Wales. Andy Dawson
Andrew Stuart Dawson (born 20 October 1978) is an English former professional footballer and current first team coach at Hull City. As a player he was a defender from 1997 to 2015. Having left Nottingham Forest as a youngster he joined Scunthorpe United permanently following a loan spell. He played for United on two occasions during his career having also spent ten years with Hull City. Playing career Early career Born in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, Dawson is the elder brother of Michael Dawson (formerly of Tottenham Hotspur) and Kevin Dawson (formerly of Chesterfield). Like his brothers, Andy started his professional career at Nottingham Forest, but he made only one senior appearance for them before moving to Scunthorpe for £45,000. Glyn Oliver "Boaz" Myhill (born 9 November 1982; ) is a former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He represented the Wales national team from 2008 to 2013. Dean Windass (born 1 April 1969) is an English former professional Association football, footballer who played as a Forward (association football), striker. He played spells at Bradford City A.F.C., Bradford City and contributed to his hometown team Hull City A.F.C., Hull City's promotion to the Premier League in 2008. Windass started his footballing career as a trainee at his hometown club, Hull City A.F.C., Hull City, and signed his first professional contract there.
