2007 World Championships In Athletics – Men's 200 Metres
These are the official results of the men's 200 metres event at the 2007 IAAF World Championships in Osaka, Japan. There were a total number of 49 participating athletes, with six qualifying heats and the final held on Thursday August 30. This event is notable for being one of the two solo World Championship events in which Usain Bolt has been beaten as of July 2017, the other event being men's 200 metres in 2005 World Championships. Brendan Kyle Akeem Christian (born 11 December 1983) is a sprint (running), sprinter from Antigua and Barbuda who specializes in the 200 metres. Born in Antigua, he is the son of Donald Christian who competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal as a cyclist. His personal best 100 metres time is 10.09 seconds, achieved in June 2009 in Nivelles. He is also a holder of the Antiguan and Barbudan record in 4 x 100 metres relay with 39.90 seconds. Running career Suetsugu won a bronze medal in the 200 metres event at the 2003 IAAF World Championships in a time of 20.38 seconds. Sandro Ricardo Rodrigues Viana (born March 26, 1977, in Manaus) is a track and field sprint athlete who competes internationally for Brazil. Churandy Thomas Martina (born 3 July 1984) is a retired Dutch sprinter. He originally placed second in the 200 metres at the 2008 Beijing Olympics but was later disqualified due to a lane violation. Rodney Martin (born December 22, 1982) is an American sprinter. Martin is a native of Las Vegas, Nevada. He attended Western High School, where he played football and ran track. At the University of South Carolina Rodney became a three-time All-American and broke the indoor and outdoor 200 m school records. Martin ran 4th place at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, Japan in the 200 m dash, missing the bronze medal to Wallace Spearmon Jr. by 100th of a second. Marvin Anderson (born 12 May 1982) is a Jamaican sprint athlete. He finished sixth in the 200m final at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka where he also won a silver medal in the 4 × 100 m relay team for Jamaica.
