The 2007 Portland Timbers season was the 7th season for the Portland Timbers (2001–10), Portland Timbers—the 3rd incarnation of a club to bear the Timbers name—of the now-defunct USL First Division, the second-tier league of the United States soccer league system, United States and Canadian soccer league system, Canada at the time. Portland Timbers (2001–10)
The Portland Timbers are an American professional soccer club based in Portland, Oregon. The Timbers compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference. The Timbers have played their home matches at Providence Park since 2011, when the team began play as an expansion team in the league. The club was founded in 2009, when the city of Portland was awarded an expansion berth to Major League Soccer. The team operating rights are owned by Peregrine Sports under the majority ownership of Merritt Paulson, whose companies had acquired the then-USL Pro team in 2007 and later established the Portland Thorns women's team in 2012 (all MLS franchises are centrally owned by the league itself, which grants operating rights and privileges to the individual club "owners," who are also shareholders in MLS). Joey Gjertsen
Joey Gjertsen (born June 13, 1982) is an American professional Association football, soccer player. Career College Gjertsen started his college soccer at Tacoma Community College where he produced 31 goals and a school record 14 assists in his freshman campaign. He then transferred to Yavapai College where he won a NJCAA national championship. Transferring once again, he enjoyed a successful two-year career at The Evergreen State College, earning All-American honors, All-Region Team and Region I Player of the year honors in 2004. He was named as the Conference Player of the Year, as he led the league with 27 goals in 2003. It was during that same season that he once scored 5 goals and an assist in one game, as well as hitting three consecutive hat-tricks. At Evergreen, Gjertsen holds the record with 54 career goals after spending only two of his four years at the college. Lee Morrison (born October 8, 1979, in Carmichael, California) is a retired American soccer player who last played as a defender for the Portland Timbers in USL First Division. Club career Morrison was picked by Dallas Burn in 2002 MLS SuperDraft from Stanford University. Luke Kreamalmeyer (born September 28, 1982, in Edwardsville, Illinois) is a professional American soccer player. Career College and amateur Kreamalmeyer attended Edwardsville High School where he scored a hat trick in the final state championship soccer game. Kreamalmeyer scored a record high 38 goals his senior season at Edwardsville and added 13 assists. Kreamalmeyer was voted First-team All American during his senior season at Edwardsville. Luke recorded 74 total goals at Edwardsville. He then played college soccer at Bradley University from 2001 to 2004. Luke made the MVC-All Freshman team in 2001. Leonard Griffin (born September 11, 1982) is an American former soccer player. He currently serves as the head coach for the California men's soccer team. Career College and amateur Griffin attended Littlerock High School in Littlerock, California, and was a four-year letterman in soccer. He was a three-time first team All-League honoree, and as a senior, he was a Los Angeles Daily News first team All-Area honoree, and set the school single-season record for goals (24 goals). Chris Bagley
Chris Bagley (born May 20, 1980, in Weymouth, Massachusetts) is an American former soccer player. Career College and amateur Bagley played club soccer for South Shore United and Boston Lightning. He played college soccer at Saint Anselm College, where he earned an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice. While at Saint Anselm, Bagley earned All-American honors twice and was voted Northeast Ten Conference player of the Year in both 2000 and 2001. He was the only player in Saint Anselm history to earn First-Team All-Conference honors in each of his four years, and played a program-record 83 career games, winning three NE10 Championships and winning tournament Most Valuable Player honors as a senior. The Vancouver Whitecaps were a Canadian professional association football, soccer club based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Merlo Field at the Clive Charles Soccer Complex is a 4,892-capacity soccer-specific stadium in Portland, Oregon on the campus of the University of Portland where it serves as home to the school's Portland Pilots men's soccer, men's and Portland Pilots women's soccer, women's association football, soccer teams. David Hague
David Hague (born 22 February 1982) is an English footballer from Jarrow in England. Career He played college soccer at Tyler Junior College before transferring to Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. At Tyler Junior college, Hague played under Coach Steve Clements and had two injury interrupted years although still managed to play his part as the team finished in the top 10 NJCAA for both years he was there. His highest goal tally in two years was 10 goals in his sophomore year. Grand Canyon took Hague from Junior college and he reached his full potential in his senior year. Hague had one of the best offensive seasons recorded at any level of college soccer. GCU finished 14-6 and Hague finished the season with 33 goals and 7 assists.
