2006–07 WOAA Senior League Season
The 2006–07 WOAA Senior League season was the 17th season of the WOAA Senior AA Hockey League. The league played a 24-game regular season which began in October 2006 and concluded in January 2007. The post-season began in February 2007 and concluded in April 2007. The Elora Rocks won the WOAA Senior AA Hockey Championship, defeating the Tavistock Royals in the final round of the playoffs. Team changes *The league splits into two divisions: North and South. *The Thedford Dirty Dogs join the league as an expansion team. *The Listowel Jets withdrew from the league and fold. WOAA Senior AA Hockey League
The Ontario Elite Hockey League is a Canadian senior ice hockey league governed by the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. The league operates in Southwestern Ontario. As of the 2024–25 season, the champion of the OEHL will be eligible to challenge the champion of Allan Cup Hockey for a spot in the Canadian national Senior AAA championship and a chance to win the Allan Cup. Formerly known as the WOAA Senior AA Hockey League, and governed by the autonomous Western Ontario Athletic Association, in the summer of 2023 ten of the twelve existing teams voted to leave the WOAA and reform under the umbrella of the Ontario Hockey Association. Hensall Sherwoods
The Exeter Mohawks were a senior ice hockey, hockey team based out of Exeter, Ontario, Exeter, Ontario, Canada. The team was previously known as the Hensall Sherwoods, but relocated to Exeter in the summer of 2007. The Mohawks played in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League. 1980s In the 1980s, the Exeter Mohawks were an Ontario Hockey Association senior hockey club. As members of the Central Senior B Hockey League, the Mohawks were 1988 OHA Senior AA Champions and All-Ontario Senior AA Champions, losing the Col. J. Bourque Trophy Final to the Campbellton Tigers (senior), Campbellton Tigers of New Brunswick. Shelburne, Ontario
Shelburne (2021 population 8,994) is a town in Dufferin County, Ontario, Canada, is located at the intersection of Ontario Highway 10, Highway 10 and Ontario Highway 89, Highway 89. Shelburne hosts the Annual Canadian Championship Old Time Fiddling Contest that is held each August. History In the early 1860s, the founder of the town Shelburne, William Jelly, found his way through the bushes to choice lots in Melancthon, Ontario, Melancthon and built several cabins in the area. As Melancthon began developing in the late 1840s, the construction of the Toronto-Sydenham Road (now Ontario Highway 10, Highway 10) began and led to settlers moving into the Shelburne area in the 1860s. East Zorra-Tavistock is a township in southwestern Ontario, Canada, formed on 1 January 1975 through the amalgamation of the Township of East Zorra and the Village of Tavistock. Palmerston, Ontario
Palmerston (local historical pronunciation: IPA pʰæ̃.mɝ.s͡tən is an unincorporated community with a population of 2,599 on the southern edge of Minto in the northwestern part of Wellington County, Ontario, Canada. History Palmerston was a key division point for the Grand Trunk and later the Canadian National Railway in Southwestern Ontario with 65 subdivisions; Owen Sound, Kincardine, Durham, Fergus, Guelph Junction and Stratford. In its original concept the railroad was to run from Guelph to Southampton, Ontario and would not have gone through Palmerston. Listowel needed to be linked to the railroad and it was decided to bend the route toward Listowel. It was also decided that a yard with maintenance shops would be needed. Clinton, Ontario
Clinton is a community in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Ontario, located in the municipality of Central Huron. Clinton was established in 1831, when Jonas Gibbings and brothers Peter and Stephen Vanderburg cleared out a small area to start. Clinton started to grow in 1844 when William Rattenbury laid out the plans to begin making a village. In 1954, Clinton's population was 2,625 people. Today, it has an estimated population of 3,203. Harriston, Ontario
Harriston (population 1,797) is a community in the Town of Minto in Wellington County, Ontario, Canada. In 1999, Harriston was amalgamated with the communities of Palmerston, Clifford, and Minto Township to form the Town of Minto. Harriston is located at the headwaters of the Maitland River, and has several shops, restaurants, a library, an art gallery and cultural centre. History In the summer of 1845, the first non-Aboriginal settlers arrived in the area. The Crown did not make land available for sale in the region until 1854. The town was named after Archibald Harrison, a Toronto farmer who was granted land along the Maitland River in Minto Township, at the Elora and Saugeen Road in 1854. Hensall is a community in Bluewater, Ontario, Canada with a population of 1,173 (2011 Census). It is located in the centre of Huron County's agricultural land, and is home to three large processing facilities: Thompsons Limited, Hensall Co-op and Cook's Division of Parrish & Heimbecker Ltd.(now owned by the Hensall Co-op), where thousands of tons of beans are annually processed, packaged and shipped worldwide. Lucknow is a community located in Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. It is incorporated in the Township of Huron-Kinloss. History Lucknow boasts a strong Scottish heritage that reaches back to the late 1800s where the Lucknow Caledonian Games boomed for about 20 years. Lucknow's welcome sign honours Donald Dinnie a folk hero of Lucknow. This champion wrestler and heavyweight athlete of the world competed in the Games in Lucknow in 1882. Monkton Wildcats
The Monkton Wildcats were a senior hockey team based in Monkton, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League, and closed prior to the 2014-15 hockey season. Championships The Monkton Wildcats won the 1999-2000 Senior "A" championship, and were also Intermediate "B" champions in 1987-88, however they failed to capture the WOAA Grand Championship that year. 2006–07 Wildcats season Monkton, coming off an 8-17-0 season in 2005-06, slipped a little bit, going 7-17-0, and finishing in eighth place in the South Division.
