2006–07 VCU Rams Men's Basketball Team
The 2006–07 VCU Rams men's basketball team represented Virginia Commonwealth University during the 2006–07 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Rams played in the Colonial Athletic Association. VCU won the CAA tournament, defeating George Mason in the championship game. They earned a bid to the NCAA tournament, where they beat Duke in the first round before losing to Pittsburgh in the round of 32. Anthony Grant (basketball)
Anthony Duvale Grant (born April 15, 1966) is an American basketball coach who is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Dayton. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2006 to 2009, and at the University of Alabama from 2009 to 2015. Prior to becoming the VCU head coach, he was an assistant coach at the University of Florida from 1996 to 2006. Biography Early life After graduating from Miami Senior High School, Grant became an All-City first-team selection and Player-of-the-Year. He played at the University of Dayton from 1983 to 1987 while residing at 3 Evanston (The Gateway) and guiding them to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament before bowing out to eventual national champion Georgetown. As a sophomore, Grant averaged 10.7 points a game and 6.5 rebounds a game and the Flyers again made it to the NCAA Tournament. Willett Hall
Willett Hall (originally Lancer Hall) is an academic facility and previously served as a 1,807-seat multi-purpose arena in Farmville, Virginia. It was built in 1980 and was home to the Longwood University Lancers men's and women's basketball teams until 2023. On December 3, 2016, the basketball court was named after former Longwood basketball player Jerome Kersey, officially making the hardwood Jerome Kersey Court. On October 4, 2016, Longwood was the host for the 2016 United States vice presidential debate. Willett Hall was the venue for the debate. Prior to the debate, the building underwent a modest renovation to the front entrance and lobby in preparation. Alumni Gym (Elon University)
Alumni Gym is a 1,607-seat multi-purpose arena in Elon, North Carolina, United States. It was built in 1949 and was home to the Elon University men's and women's basketball teams and the women's volleyball team through the 2017–18 school year. The gym was renovated in 1992 to install air conditioning, new flooring, additional seating, offices, classrooms and renovated locker rooms and again in 2010 with the addition of stadium-style seating in a horseshoe shape, new scoreboards and video boards, new locker rooms, and a new entrance. The floor was renamed Robertson Court in thanks to a donor. The 2017–18 school year was the last for Elon's teams at Alumni Gym. The Hampton Pirates basketball team is the men's basketball team that represents Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, United States. The Pirates compete in the Coastal Athletic Association.
