CEV Women's Champions League
The Women's CEV Champions League, formerly known as CEV Champions Cup (from 1960 to 2000), is the top official competition for women's volleyball clubs of Europe and takes place every year. It is organized by the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV) and was created in 1960 as . On 13 November 2000, it was officially presented in Florence under a new format and renamed . Formula The competition has changed its format since the first fourteen teams took part at the inaugural edition in 1960–61. Through the era, as the number of participating teams has changed over time, the competition moved from an only knockout tournament to include a round-robin format between the final four competitors to determine the champion. Since the competition became the , all participants are divided into groups, and a double round-robin takes place within each group. Winiary Kalisz
Calisia Kalisz is a Polish multi-sports club based in Kalisz, most notable for its women's volleyball team, SSK Calisia Kalisz (formerly Winiary Kalisz), playing in the Liga Siatkówki Kobiet (Polish Women's Volleyball League), which folded in 2010. The other large section of the club is the athletics department. Francesca Piccinini (born 10 January 1979 in Massa, Tuscany, Massa) is an former Italian volleyball player who has represented Italy four times (2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012) at the Summer Olympics. She was a member of the Italy women's national volleyball team, Women's National Team that won the gold medal at the 2002 World Championship in Germany. Paola Paggi (born 6 December 1976 in Ivrea, Piedmont) is a former volleyball player from Italy, who represented her native country in two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 2000. She was a member of the Women's National Team, that won the title at the 2002 FIVB Women's World Championship in Germany. Paggi made her debut for Italy on 22 May 1999 against Cuba. Indrė Sorokaitė (born 2 July 1988) is a Lithuanian-born Italian volleyball player. She plays for Union Volley Pinerolo and for the Italy women's national volleyball team. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Career She was born in Kaunas, Lithuania, and moved to Italy with her mother at age 14. She started playing volleyball in Italy in 2003.
