2006–07 AFC Ajax Season
During the 2006–07 season AFC Ajax participated in the 2006–07 Eredivisie, Eredivisie, the 2006–07 KNVB Cup, KNVB Cup, 2006-07 UEFA Champions League, UEFA Champions League and the 2006–07 UEFA Cup, UEFA Cup. The first training took place on Saturday, 8 July 2006. The traditional AFC Ajax Open Day was on Wednesday, 8 August 2006, followed by a testimonial match for the retired former Ajax forward (association football), striker Dennis Bergkamp. Pre-season The first training for the 2006–07 season was held on July 8, 2006. In preparation for the new season Ajax organized a training camp in De Lutte, Netherlands at the De Thij Sportpark. During the pre-season, the squad from manager Henk ten Cate played friendly matches against JOS Watergraafsmeer, ABS, SV de Lutte, HHC Hardenberg, VV Bennekom, SV Spakenburg and FC Emmen before traveling to Germany to play against Borussia Dortmund. Hardenberg Heemse Combinatie, commonly known as HHC Hardenberg, is a football club based in Hardenberg, Netherlands. The team compete in the Tweede Divisie, the third level of the Dutch football league system. John Heitinga
John Gijsbert Alan "Johnny" Heitinga (born 15 November 1983) is a Dutch football coach and former player who is currently the assistant manager at Premier League club Liverpool. He will become the manager of Eredivisie club Ajax on 1 July 2025. A product of the Ajax Youth Academy, he played for their first squad from 2001 to 2008. After a one-year spell at Atlético Madrid in Spain, he signed for Everton in 2009. Maarten Stekelenburg
Maarten Stekelenburg (; born 22 September 1982) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Stekelenburg began his career at Ajax, playing 282 matches over nine seasons in his first spell there and winning nine honours, including two Eredivisie titles. He went on to play for Roma, Fulham, Monaco, Southampton and Everton. He returned to Ajax after the expiry of his contract at Everton following the 2019–20 Premier League season. 2007–08 KNVB Cup
The 2007–08 KNVB Cup was the 90th edition of the Dutch national football annua; knockout tournament for the KNVB Cup. 87 teams contested, beginning on 25 August 2007 and ending at the final on 27 April 2008 at Feijenoord Stadion, in Rotterdam. Ajax unsuccessfully defended its 2007 title in the round of 16 on 16 January 2008 losing to NAC Breda, 4–2. The 2007–08 UEFA Cup was the 37th edition of the UEFA Europa League, UEFA Cup, UEFA's former second-tier club association football, football tournament. The Amsterdam Tournament () was a pre-season association football competition, held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The competition was hosted by Eredivisie club AFC Ajax, Ajax at the Amsterdam Arena.
