Results Legislative Assembly elections The State Assembly elections in India of 2006 took place between April 3, 2006 and May 8, 2006. The Indian states that went into poll are Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry (union territory), Puducherry. Counting of votes for all the states was completed on May 11, 2006 and results were declared on May 20, 2006. Assam Elections in Assam for 65 assembly constituency, ACs occurred on April 3, 2006 and another 61 assembly constituency, ACs on April 10, 2006. Jammu and Kashmir Kerala Elections in Kerala for 65 ACs occurred on April 22, 2006, 61 ACs on April 29, 2006, and 15 ACs on May 3, 2006. Ghulam Nabi Azad
Ghulam Nabi Azad (born 7 March 1949) is an Indian politician who served as Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha between 2014 and 2021. He also served as the Chief Minister of erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir from 2005 to 2008. On 26 September 2022, Azad announced his own political party as Democratic Progressive Azad Party. He is the chief patron cum founder of Democratic Progressive Azad Party. Azad served as Minister of Health and Family Welfare. He has served as the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs in the Manmohan Singh government until 27 October 2005, when he was appointed the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Mohammad Dilawar Mir
Mohammad Dilawar Mir is a well known Indian politician and member of the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party. Mir was a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly from the Rafiabad constituency in Baramulla district. His son Yawar Mir took over the same in 2014 becoming MLA in J&K. Dilawar Mir left Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party in February 2020 to form Apni party. Iftikhar Hussain Ansari
Iftikhar Hussain Ansari (26 April 1942 – 30 September 2014), widely known among his followers as Moulvi Sahib, was a Kashmiri Shia cleric, politician, businessman and a proponent of the Grand Ashura Procession In Kashmir. He was one of the leading shia clerics in Kashmir and had close relations with multiple other important scholars such as Sayyid Jawad Shahristani, Mohammad Alavi Gorgani and Lotfollah Safi Golpaygani. He studied at Sultanul Madaris Lucknow, as well as Hawza Najaf.
