2005–06 USHL Season
The 2005–06 season was the 27th season of the United States Hockey League as an all-junior league. The regular season began on September 23, 2005, and concluded on March 1, 2006, with the regular season champion winning the Anderson Cup. The Clark Cup playoffs featured the top four teams from each division competing for the league title. United States Hockey League
The United States Hockey League (USHL) is the top junior ice hockey league sanctioned by USA Hockey. The league consists of 16 active teams located in the Midwestern United States and Great Plains, for players between the ages of 16 and 21. The USHL is strictly amateur, allowing former players to compete in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) college ice hockey, college hockey. The Fargo Force won the Anderson Cup as the 2023–24 USHL season, 2023–24 regular season champions, as well as the 2024 Clark Cup, Clark Cup playoff championship, their second in franchise history. Operations The USHL is the country's top sanctioned junior hockey league, classified as Tier I. Sioux City Musketeers
The Sioux City Musketeers are a junior ice hockey team based in Sioux City, Iowa. The Musketeers play their home games at Tyson Events Center, and are members of the Western Conference of the United States Hockey League (USHL). The team was founded in 1972, and has won three Anderson Cups as the regular season champion, and four Clark Cups as the playoffs champion of the USHL. History Dave Siciliano served as head coach and general manager of the Musketeers from 2000 to 2008. Sioux City radio station KOOL 99.5 broadcast ''The Dave Siciliano Show'' on Mondays during the season, which included interviews with the coach and the team's players. Kyle Okposo
Kyle Henry Erovre Okposo (born April 16, 1988) is an American former professional ice hockey right winger who played 17 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres, and Florida Panthers. He was drafted seventh overall by the Islanders in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Okposo won the Stanley Cup with the Panthers in 2024. Playing career Junior and college Okposo played one season in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Des Moines Buccaneers, in which he was named the most valuable player of the USHL playoffs and the league's top rookie. Andreas Nödl
Andreas Nödl (born February 28, 1987) is an Austrian former professional ice hockey player. He last served as captain of the Vienna Capitals of the Austrian Hockey League (EBEL). He previously played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Philadelphia Flyers and Carolina Hurricanes. Playing career As a youth, Nödl played in the 2001 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a team from Austria. Nödl played two seasons with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League (USHL) before moving on to the St. Cloud State University Huskies after being drafted in the second round, 39th overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers. Teddy Purcell
Edward Purcell (born September 8, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Los Angeles Kings, Tampa Bay Lightning, Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers. He was not drafted by any NHL team. Playing career Amateur Purcell moved to the United States to study at and play hockey for Lake Forest Academy, a prep school north of Chicago. He then played junior hockey for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League (USHL), where he set the career scoring mark, scoring 138 points on 39 goals and 99 assists in two seasons. Michael Davies (ice Hockey)
Michael Davies (born December 10, 1986) is an Americans, American professional ice hockey player. He played with UK EIHL side Sheffield Steelers, played for EHC Black Wings Linz of the Austrian Hockey League (EBEL), and most recently for the Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL). Playing career Prior to turning professional, Davies played for St. Louis Heartland Eagles of the USHL, the Springfield Jr. Blues of the NAHL where he won Rookie of the Year, and the Lincoln Stars of the USHL. Trevor Lewis
Trevor Lewis (born January 8, 1987) is an American professional ice hockey center for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). Lewis appeared in parts of 12 seasons with the Kings after being drafted 17th overall by the team in the 2006 NHL entry draft; he spent one season with the Winnipeg Jets before signing with the Calgary Flames in 2021. Chad Costello
Chad Costello (born July 22, 1986) is an American professional ice hockey player and coach. He is the former head coach of the Allen Americans in the ECHL. Playing career Costello played junior hockey with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders where he scored 76 points to be the leading scoring in the United States Hockey League for the 2005–06 season. He then attended Northeastern University where he played NCAA Division I college hockey with the Northeastern Huskies men's ice hockey team where he scored 14 goals and 21 assists for 35 points in 59 games. Penalty (ice Hockey)
A penalty in ice hockey is a punishment for an infringement of the rules. Most penalties are enforced by sending the offending player to a penalty box for a set number of minutes. During the penalty the player may not participate in play. Penalties are called and enforced by the Official (ice hockey)#Referees, referee, or in some cases, the Official (ice hockey)#Linesmen, linesman. The offending team may not replace the player on the ice (although there are some exceptions, such as fighting), leaving them short handed, short-handed as opposed to full strength. Plus–minus (sports)
Plus−minus (+/−, ±, plus/minus) is a sports statistic used to measure a player's impact, represented by the difference between their team's total scoring versus their opponent's when the player is in the game. Ice hockey In ice hockey, the plus–minus measures a player's goal differential. When a team that is at even-strength or shorthanded scores a goal, all players on the ice on the scoring team will register a plus while all players on the conceding team on the ice will register a minus. When a goal is scored by a team on the power play, no plus or minus points are awarded to either team.
