2005 Virginia Lieutenant Gubernatorial Election
The 2005 Virginia lieutenant gubernatorial election was held on November 8, 2005 to elect the Lieutenant Governor of Virginia. Republican nominee Bill Bolling defeated Democrat Leslie Byrne despite incumbent Lieutenant Governor Tim Kaine's victory in the concurrent gubernatorial election. As of 2021 this is the most recent election of which the Lieutenant Governor and Governor of opposite parties were elected. Chap Petersen
John Chapman "Chap" Petersen (born March 27, 1968) is an American politician. A Democrat, he served in the Virginia House of Delegates 2002–06, was elected to the Virginia State Senate in November 2007, and was reelected in 2011. He the state's 34th district, made up of the city of Fairfax and large parts of Fairfax County. Early life Petersen graduated from Fairfax High School in 1986. He received a B.A. degree from Williams College in 1990 and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1994, when he began practicing law. Prince William Board Of County Supervisors
The Prince William Board of County Supervisors is the policy-making body for the government of Prince William County, Virginia. The county is divided into seven magisterial districts: Brentsville, Coles, Gainesville, Neabsco, Occoquan, Potomac, and Woodbridge. The magisterial districts each elect one supervisor to the Board of Supervisors. There is also a Chairman elected by the county at-large, bringing total Board membership to 8. Sean Connaughton
Sean Thomas Connaughton (born February 25, 1961) is an American attorney who was the Secretary of Transportation for the Commonwealth of Virginia from 2010 until 2014. He served as the Administrator of the United States Maritime Administration, an agency of the United States Department of Transportation, from 2006 until early 2009. Connaughton served as Chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors from January 1, 2000 until his appointment as Maritime Administrator. He is also a lawyer, unsuccessful 2005 Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, former United States Coast Guard officer, and a retired officer of the United States Naval Reserve. Phillip P. Puckett (born August 10, 1947 in Russell County, Virginia) is an American politician. A Democrat, he was elected to the Senate of Virginia in 1998 and resigned on June 9, 2014. He represented the 38th district, made up of five counties and parts of four others in the southwestern part of the state. Career In December, 1998, Puckett defeated two opponents to win a Special Election for the 38th Senatorial District, replacing Jackson E. Reasor, Jr., who had been Senator from 1992 to 1998 (then CEO and President of both the Old Dominion Electric Cooperative, and the VMDA, since 1998).
