2005 FC Dallas Season
The 2005 FC Dallas season was the ninth season of the Major League Soccer team. The season saw many changes from the previous season. In August, the team moved from their longtime home of the Cotton Bowl to the new soccer-specific Pizza Hut Park in Frisco. Coinciding with the move, the team was rebranded as FC Dallas. This included changing the jerseys from predominantly red to white with red stripes and changing the color scheme from red and black to red, white, and blue. The team also changed its logo. Overall, the season was deemed a success by some because the team returned to the playoffs for the first time in three years. The team also reached the Championship Game of the U.S. Open Cup. FC Dallas
FC Dallas is an American professional soccer club based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The club competes as a member of the Western Conference in Major League Soccer (MLS). The franchise began play in 1996 as a charter club of the league. The club was founded in 1995 as the Dallas Burn before adopting its current name in 2004. Since 2005, Dallas have played in the DFW area's northern suburbs at the 20,500-capacity soccer-specific Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas; home games in the club's early years were played at the Cotton Bowl. The team is owned by the Hunt Sports Group led by brothers Clark Hunt and Dan Hunt, who is the team's president. The Hunt family also owns the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs and part of the Chicago Bulls. Leonard Griffin (soccer)
Leonard Griffin (born September 11, 1982 in Pasadena, California) is an American former soccer player, who currently serves as the head coach for the California men's soccer team. Career College and Amateur Griffin attended Littlerock High School in Littlerock, California, and was a four-year letterman in soccer. He was a three-time first team All-League honoree, and as a senior, he was a Los Angeles Daily News first team All-Area honoree, and set the school single-season record for goals (24 goals). Griffin played college soccer at the UCLA from 2000 to 2003. Griffin distinguished himself at the school, helping the team win a national championship in 2002, and being named an NCAA All-American in 2003. Alain Nkong
Alain N'Kong (born 6 April 1979) is a Cameroonian former professional football who played as a midfielder. Club career N'Kong was born in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Early in his career, he played all over the world, including Las Palmas in Spain, Nacional in Uruguay, and FC Paços de Ferreira in Portugal. N'Kong signed with MLS club Colorado Rapids prior to the 2005 season. Despite having a successful season, he was released in November 2005. He returned to Colorado in August 2006 but was again waived at the end of the season, subsequently joining Atlante F.C. On 11 August 2007, he scored the first goal in the newly renovated Estadio Quintana Roo in Cancún as well as his first goal for Atlante, against Pumas. Óscar Pareja
Óscar Alexander Pareja Gómez (born 10 August 1968) is a Colombian professional football manager and former player. He is currently the head coach of Orlando City in Major League Soccer. Pareja is nicknamed ''El Generalito'', the Little General, but is now called ''Papi''. Playing career Pareja came up through the youth system of Independiente Medellin; however, he began his professional career in 1987, debuting for renowned club Independiente Medellín. In his debut, he assisted on the winning goal in a 1–0 victory. He played eight years with the club, from 1987 to 1995, helping them to be Categoría Primera A runners-up in 1993, and leading them to a respectable performance in the 1994 Copa Libertadores. Ricardo Andres Valenzuela (born February 7, 1964) is a United States former soccer referee from Richmond, California, who officiated for the U.S. Soccer Federation in various leagues and competitions, as assigned. He was also a FIFA referee. His other occupation is as a schoolteacher. Scott Garlick
Scott Garlick (born May 29, 1972 in Phoenix, Arizona) is an American retired soccer goalkeeper who played 10 seasons in Major League Soccer from 1997 to 2006. Garlick went on trial to Waterford United in 1994. Initially for a month he stayed for two seasons before returning home in the hope of signing for a MLS club. Garlick was not initially drafted by an MLS team; instead, he signed with the Greensboro Dynamo of the USISL. D.C. United called him up early in the 1997 MLS season, and then signed him for good later in the year. Garlick promptly backstopped DC to the MLS Cup, but the emergence of Tom Presthus led United to trade Garlick to the Tampa Bay Mutiny prior to the 1999 season. Carey Talley (born August 26, 1976) is a former American soccer player. Career College Talley played high school soccer for Houston High School in Germantown, Tennessee. His team won the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association soccer championship his junior and senior years in 1993 and 1994. He played his club soccer for Memphis Futbol Club. Some notable teammates on his Memphis Futbol Club '76 youth soccer team were future Major League Soccer standouts and United States men's national soccer team members, Richard Mulrooney, Tony Kuhn, Ross Paule and Jonny Walker.
