2004–05 WOAA Senior League Season
The 2004–05 WOAA Senior League season was the 15th season of the WOAA Senior AA Hockey League. The league played a regular season schedule which began in October 2004 and concluded in January 2005. The post-season began in February 2005 and concluded in April 2005. The Elora Rocks won the Sr. "AA" championship, defeating the Clinton Radars in five games. The Lucan-Ilderton Jets won the Sr. "A" championship. Team changes *The Lucan-Ilderton Jets join the league as an expansion team. Durham Thundercats illegal player On January 10, 2005, locked out National Hockey League player Chris Neil of the Ottawa Senators suited up for a game with the Durham Thundercats. Neil finished the game with one assist in a 5-4 victory over the Mildmay Monarchs. The ruling from the league was that Neil was an illegal player because as a professional hockey player, he could not be insured under the league's policy in case if he injured an opponent. WOAA Senior AA Hockey League
The Ontario Elite Hockey League is a Canadian senior ice hockey league governed by the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. The league operates in Southwestern Ontario. As of the 2024–25 season, the champion of the OEHL will be eligible to challenge the champion of Allan Cup Hockey for a spot in the Canadian national Senior AAA championship and a chance to win the Allan Cup. Formerly known as the WOAA Senior AA Hockey League, and governed by the autonomous Western Ontario Athletic Association, in the summer of 2023 ten of the twelve existing teams voted to leave the WOAA and reform under the umbrella of the Ontario Hockey Association. Palmerston 81's
The Minto 81's are a senior hockey team based out of Palmerston and Harriston, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Ontario Elite Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. Championships Palmerston won the WOAA Grand Championship in the 1957–58 season. The current Palmerston 81's have three WOAA Sr. "A" Championships, in 1998–99, 2005–06, and 2007–08, they have a WOAA Sr. "AA" Championship, in 2002–03, and a OEHL Sr. "AA" Championship, in 2023-2024. 2006–07 season Palmerston, the defending Senior "A" Champions, had a very strong year, with a 17–7–0 record, good for fourth in the North Division. Goderich, Ontario
Goderich ( or ) is a town in the Canadian province of Ontario and is the county seat of Huron County. The town was founded by John Galt and William "Tiger" Dunlop of the Canada Company in 1827. Wingham (2016 census population 2,934) is a community located in the municipality of North Huron, Ontario, Canada, which is located in Huron County. Wingham became part of North Huron in 2001 when the Ontario government imposed amalgamation on the former township of East Wawanosh, the village of Blyth, and the town of Wingham. Brussels Crusaders
The Brussels Crusaders were a senior ice hockey, hockey team based out of Brussels, Ontario, Brussels, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League, WOAA Senior Hockey League. The club sat out the 1992–93 season, however, the Crusaders returned in 1993–94. The club once again withdrew from the WOAA from 1997 to 2002, before returning for the 2002–03 season. The Crusaders would fold following the 2004–05 season. Ripley Wolves
The Ripley Wolves are a senior ice hockey, hockey team based out of Ripley, Ontario, Ripley, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Ontario Elite Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. Georgian Bay River Rats
The Nottawasaga River Rats were a senior hockey team based out of CFB Borden. They played in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League. Championships Nottawasaga has won one WOAA Championship, when they were known as Georgian Bay, when they were Senior "A" champions in 2004. 2006–07 River Rats season This season would prove to be disastrous for the River Rats, as they finished the regular season with a 0-24-0 record, last place in the 18 team WOAA. Georgian Bay did have a victory in mid-December, a 4-3 win over the Durham Thundercats, however they were stripped of the win due to playing with illegal players. Monkton Wildcats
The Monkton Wildcats were a senior hockey team based in Monkton, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League, and closed prior to the 2014-15 hockey season.
