The 2003 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 113th staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary County Board in 1887. The championship began on 31 August 2003 and ended on 12 October 2003. Mullinahone were the defending champions. On 12 October 2003, Toomevara won the title after a 3–19 to 3–16 defeat of Thurles Sarsfields in the final at Semple Stadium. It was their 18th championship title overall and their first title in two years. Thurles Sarsfields GAA
Thurles Sarsfields is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred in the town of Thurles at Semple Stadium. The club was founded in 1881 and is the most honoured club in the history of the county championship with 36 County Titles. The Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the FBD Insurance Tipperary County Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Tipperary County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1887 for the top hurling teams in the county of Tipperary in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at Semple Stadium in October. The prize for the winning team is the Dan Breen Cup. Initially played as a knock-out competition on a divisional basis, the championship currently features a group stage followed by a knock-out stage. Mullinahone-CJ Kickhams GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association located in Mullinahone, south County Tipperary, Ireland, close to the border with County Kilkenny. The Mullinahone Club is named in honour of Charles J. Kickham, "Poet and Patriot", who was born in the village. The 2002 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 112th staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary County Board in 1887. The championship began on 14 September 2002 and ended on 10 November 2002. Toomevara were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Mullinahone at the semi-final stage. On 10 November 2002, Mullinahone won the title after a 2–10 to 1–11 defeat of Thurles Sarsfields in a final replay at Semple Stadium. It remains their only championship title. Eoin Kelly, Pat Croke, Johnny Enright and Ger O'Grady were the championship's top scorers. Semple Stadium
The Semple Stadium is the home of hurling and Gaelic football for Tipperary GAA and for the province of Munster. Located in Thurles, County Tipperary, it is the second largest GAA stadium in Ireland (after Croke Park), with a capacity of 45,690.
